Do home and building inspectors have an inside track? 5047 18
Started by blain0
It appears from the outside that building inpsectors and you have much in common. I guess the real question is how many of you are practicing certified building inspectors Or if you left the inspection field to become an adjuster why did you Could you maintain your inspection business or do you really have to be a full time wholly commited adjuster And lastly if&160; an inspector made a change what is a reasonable time frame to become productive as an adjuster given there are events to parti...

Going broke doing daily claims. 3569 14
Started by Bobabooey
Any of you guys make any money doing daily claims&160;
My experience is that since I have experience, then I do the daily claims and make no money.&160; Our inexperienced guys get sent to do the CAT work like hail storms because all they really need to know is how to measure a roof and take pictures.&160;
&160;
The end result is that they make a ton of money measuring roofs while I work complicated daily claims and don't make squat.&160;
Anyone else ever dealt with this before

How long does it taske for mold to form on a wood baseboard 21376 9
Started by nyjojo
I have been trying to find information on how long it takes for mold to form on a wooden baseboard. The water leak was under a tub and seeped through the baseboard.&160;The tenant noticed a little bit of water every day but assumed it was from his 2 children under 5 yrs splashing water while taking a bath. Once he noticed black mold forming on the outside of the fnc b he notified the owner. I have tried to find some documentation from an engineers report or something else to support it but I ha...

Faulty Ford Part Could Cause Fire 3004 0
Started by Leland
I adjusted a commercial fire that appeared to be caused by one of these switches, be aware of this possibility when there is a Ford vehicle involved, be sure to think about c/o investigations and subro potential.
The cruise control switch is always energized ('hot') and more volts are going into the Texas Instruments chip than it was designed for... brake fluid starts on fire. Preserve your evidence scene, tape it off until your C/o experts gets control of the scene...

Health Insurance and the Adjuster 4478 22
Started by christian
For Months now we all have been listening to the debate on health care reform. As adjusters it would seem that this would be a mute&160;topic given our industry. Of course, it's not. We all know how this works now, we cover everything out of our own pocket. If the goal is to insure those without insurance how will it effect&160;'at will' and IAs.
My question is how it will work in the future Will IA firms be forced to provide coverage or pick up any expense Will we as adjusters be able to ...

Were you deployed on 4 key days 2618 7
Started by Ray Hall
About 20 years ago some of the old timers told me the people who make a good living in catastrophe adjusting have 4 key days and the deployments were roof claims for the most part and I think its a good gauge. Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, July 4th and Lqabor Day. It,s a fact a farmer will not have a good crop if it does bot rain enough or rains too much. Kinda like the cat. adjuster huh Needs weather events over large populated areas.

Coverage C Deductible 2165 6

OK, I'm going to ask a dumb question. I&160;have not dealt with property in a very long time. I'm a worker's comp adjuster.
My boyfriend's home was burglarized a couple of weeks ago. I looked at his dec page and it makes no sense to me.
Does the 1&160;deductible (1 of the entire home)&160;apply to the contents that were stolen&160; Or is it 1 of what he is claiming&160;
Don't throw any fruit at me or anything.

Should I switch from roofing sales to adjusting? 4243 17
Started by Brisco County
I'm in Austin, and the roofing sales market is now saturated with competition. I've been inspecting roofs for two months and practicing with XM8, so I'm wondering if this would be a good time to get certified as a cat adjuster. The insurance companies are currently sending adjusters from other parts of Texas that are hours away to look at my roofs.
Since I live in the affected area, would this be a good opportunity I'm single and I like traveling, so I'm looking at ...

I was woking a water loss claim last week that was&160; doozie. The claim was local so I was able to inspect the loss just hours after the loss was reported. The insured had worked the night shift and a strong thundertorm passed through. The family dog who is terrified of storms was home alone to ride it out. When I entered the home drywall was collapsed from t...

I went on an inspection today for&160;a&160;claim with a 2008 date of&160;loss.&160; There are no coverage issues.&160;
There are twenty-five buildings, partial two-story, with two layers of t-locks and&160;40-50 squares per building.&160; I estimate the shingles are about 12 years old and in average condition.&160;&160;&160;The top layer is an off-white color.&160;&160;There is a total of about 1100 squares of surface area.&160; Each building has an av...
