Explosions from Marijuana Oil Cooking on the Increase 5428 8
Started by Leland
I haven't got one of these claims yet but I have heard they are getting more common. I know a public adjuster who tried to represent a building owner who was the victim of a tenant who damaged the building with an explosion from marijuana oil manufacturing. Her claim was denied due to a policy provision that excluded loss due to illegal activities, whether or not the landlord was aware of the activity.

Utility company, overhead lines 4815 8

I have a claim from a cable company that reports the loss of hundreds of instruments used to transfer signal from satellite to cable and then on to their customers. The cause of loss is wind and spans 30 locations. This I can wade through with the aid of an engineer.
The insured is also presenting damages to miles and miles and miles of overhead fiber optics and cable. As I understand it these items are excluded in most policies. The insured reports th...

Difference In Conditions Policies 3834 4
Started by Medulus
The company for which I work writes a Difference in Conditions (DIC) policy for earthquake and flood. I first encountered DIC policies while working hurricanes Dennis and Katrina. I had been an adjuster 15 years before seeing my first DIC policy. I find that, over and over again, when I assign a claim I first have to explain to the adjuster what a DIC policy is and how to read it for coverage. This applies even with adjusters who have 20 years of experience. I thin...

This could bring you down and you may end up not getting the best out of the insurance deal that you have. Insurance policies may not be the most easy to comprehend and you may come across many terms tha...

Three adds for commercial cat adjusters. 3950 0
Started by Ray Hall
Just read the 3 adds for commercial cat. adjusters. All of the venders are well reguarded. Please note 7 to 10 years confirmed working experience.
experience is required to apply. Good adjusters are always needed on cat. losses and it seems the commercial underwriters thinks it takes 7-10 years. Many of us think that way.
Just below this is inside adjusters with staff experience to do temp work on storms on a day rate. This is whats needed in the future and it does not seem to be any fast trac...

This is not intended for adjusters on dwellings only. I will re-produce a file on a CD I worked in Houston in June 2008 on a tilt wall warehouse collapse of a roof section. I was requested to write the coverage opinion, the reservation of rights, get buildings history, engage the engineer for old and new reports. The loss was over $300,000. The file is a good example of a loss assigned to an experienced Executive General adjuster. The CD will have all the pages of the policy and the inves...

I tried searching for the earlier thread on the drywall problem but could not find it so started this thread here. I thought there was on...

Definition of cash in transit 6107 2
Started by Leland
The accounting definition of 'cash in transit' appears to be cash that has left the business and not yet shown up in the bank account. So for accounting it doesn't seem like cash has to be actually moving. What is the insurance definition If the cash is in a box in the trunk of a car, and the driver stops to go to the bathroom, I would think that the cash is still 'in transit' during the bathroom break. But what if the driver stops at his house, sleeps overnight, and contin...

How would you handle salvage
