10 Replies and 2712 Views For New adjusters only-sample reading files  2712  10 Started by  Ray Hall Some time I forget how I was trained. I was trained one on one for several months by a senior adjuster who I was assigned to by our employer to give me a segment of my training. But I read about 200-300 files that were closed before I was hired and about 20 new files that came in about 20 per day from staff and IA adjusters in the SW USA. Thinking back I learned more from reading actual files and ask questions and it stayed with me more. I have several hundred files in my computer and in file ...

1 Replies and 2533 Views T&E vs. Fee Schedule  2533  1 Started by  StormSupport I am working as&160;a research assistant for someone writing an article for Claims Magazine. The subject matter is exploring the differences between working files on a T&E basis verses working on a fee schedule, mainly on catastrophe claims. What are your thoughts and do you have experience working both ways What are the good points and bad points for each method Which way do you figure you can make the most money&160; When working on a fee schedule, do you have an incentive to write th...

19 Replies and 3612 Views The bitter with the sweet  3612  19 Started by  margar1 I am just adding a post to contribute to the forums since things are a bit slow. This post may or may not be beneficial but I am sure there are those that can definately relate. When I was a greenhorn just out of school I worked for years as a union Ironworker. Job placement was tricky and we covered a lot of different areas. Some jobs were great like erecting steel for bridges and high rises. some jobs were less glorious like tying rebar on a parking garage. I remember my dad telling me to take...

13 Replies and 2506 Views The big 4 in 04  2506  13 Started by  margar1 I broke into catadjusting in 02 and I can remember the barrage of new adjusters during the big 4 in o4. I can recall being still fairly new to the buisness and seeing all of the new adjusters that were deployed as warm bodies. It was a good feeling to have a couple of years under my belt during Frances,Jeanne,and Charley and I can still remember the bewildered look in the eyes of the new crop. I can only wonder how many of those adjusters are still around....... &160;

5 Replies and 2552 Views Anyone else getting scam e-mails through CADO?  2552  5 Started by  Mike Smith I just got a 'Job offer' in response to my resume being on this site.  I haven't figured out what exactly they are looking to get out of me, but it would seem identity theft at least, and maybe more direct theft at worst (if I responded and they asked for more info).   I get a lot of these e-mails, as I handle a large volume of e-mail for my company, and several e-mail accounts.  They always stand out to me as the most ridiculous things ever, but I guess enough people fall for t...

1 Replies and 1806 Views Need help finding a way to adjust in local area.  1806  1 Started by  crich My&160;family (Dad, brothers, sister) has been cat adjusting since 2003 working with mostly one vendor. Prior to that we were on the agent side of things. We are interested in slowing down on the traveling part and starting a local adjusting company in southern VA.&160; We are just tossing this idea around since there are few local adjusting companies in our rural area.&160;I am in need of advice as to how to analize this decision and steps to take to get started.
