In the last 5 years or so I have talked on the phone, net, given free boot camps made many post on this site that I thought would be helpful to adjusters with less experience than I have. This topic is about the new people who want to go into a new industry that some call a profession, Cat. Adjusting.

I have offered on Cado and Claims Mentor to estimate imaginary damage on their own house that was caused by a large tree crushing the roof over the kitchen and resulting damage to the interior walls, ceilings, floors etc. Send to me in PDF format. I will download and make corrections like a file supervisior should do for new people. Three people have contacted me in 5 years, but none of them have completed this difficult task.

If its too difficult, I will not hear from you, but try to answer my queston . Can you do this little claim.?

Turn and burn, grab your pay and run before the auditors look at the files. That's the modern way. I have taken some files over from a young hot shot from another coty who was helping with the hail claims where I am (as daily files not cat). One the the rising young billing stars. I have photo on the files where he has marked 8 hail hits on one tab. He did an estimate on a 2 sq shed, for $1400.  But for now he is making the company money (and himslef).  Youngsters are sent on hail loses with being told the difference between a 3 tab and a laminate shingle. Ray I am starting to think that noone really cares about doing a good job anymore.

I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I would like to chime in here and as an adjuster that has only 6 yrs of experience I am always digging trying to find out more info on any type of losses that I come in contact with. One of the best experiences I have had was working beside a 30+yr adjuster reviewing commercial losses and BI claims from Katrina and Rita for all of 2006. This man was a bottom less pit of information and examples and actuall claims that he had worked. If you could come up with it he had worked it. I learned a very large amount of info about policy and understanding it. I still call on him from time to time for information and his opinion. I believe you can learn much more with you mouth shut and your ears open.

Ray, here is where the irony chews on my tokus. The vendors and, indeed, even the carriers want the 'Turn & Burn' kids because of the "VOLUME" of files they turn in before they blow out of town. After all, cleaning up their disaster is what the clean up squad is all about. If some Insureds get underpaid, then the supplements roll out the door. If some Insureds get overpaid, they tell all their neighbors and at renewal, new business floods into the agents office.

Of course, the ones getting hurt in this brave new world are the experienced veteran adjusters taking the time to work each file as thoroughly as possible with the Insured. Since this takes time, our production count will always reflect poorly. The ancient saw that 'steady wins the race' applies to a different world than where we are now. Granted the hot shot won't be called back for the next storm, but that's alright. There's always plenty more just like him where he came from!

Volume! Volume! Volume! Turn & Burn. Ain't it great?

Anytime carriers hire new folks, ITS CALLED JOB SECURITY!

Im still getting a few Katrina & Ike Commercial and Residential claims to appraise & Umpire here and there. Most of what I see is Adjuster failure to properly scope loss, know policy endorsements (Expecially commercial claims), and scope ALL damages.

Adjusters turning and burning claim files, spend a few more moments, actually get into the attic, or Climb the roof if it is a mansard/flat, obtain policy language to endorsements to the dec sheets.

Research & KNOW Policy coverage language endorsements to commercial claims, before you go to site or write an estimate.

its like I said "JOB SECURITY"
