4 Replies and 3655 Views Question about Crawford  3655  4 Started by  stephie76 After someone on here suggested that I apply to Crawford I sent them my resume this week. I applied for a staff position and to be on their roster. I was almost certain I would be turned down for both but I wasn't. Yesterday they emailed a "New Hire Packet" to me. I'm still in shock and I'm not sure what I have been hired for. Not sure if it's the property adjuster or the roster. Everything in the packet says " employee" not contractor and I had to fill out a W4. Of all the...

14 Replies and 3536 Views What would you do?  3536  14 Started by  JimGary Just wanted to get a concensus on how the CADO population would handle this situation. I like many other adjusters, am waiting for the next deployment. While waiting, I took what was supose to be a temporary job. One day I got a call from a company asking me to handle some local day claims. Said there would be plenty to keep me busy, and "I would not regret it", so I quit my job and waited on the claims.  Well to get to the point, this company gave me a grand total of 3 claims, a...

2 Replies and 3178 Views CEC Credits ?  3178  2 Started by  TimMc Hey everyone, hope all is well with each of you. I have scrolled through several of the post on here but have not seen the answer to my question. I am trying to find out if there is a website out there where you can obtain some of your CEC Credits for your Texas Adjuster License. I have taken classes to earn some of the credits I need but can not miss any more work for a while.  Thanks in advance for any response.   Tim Mc

We know many causes of claims are blamed on environmental reasons and global warning yet as I read more I continue to be taken back by the 180 degree difference in environmental and global warming articles. This thread is just a place to post such articles in one place not to prove any one view but just gather the different views floating out of the science community today.   http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article2062484.ece Cow 'emissions' more damaging to plan...

13 Replies and 3249 Views Thar She Blows - Only Six More Days  3249  13 Started by  Medulus This is a reminder to those who have yet to make their guesses.  There are only six days left to make your prediction in the "Thar She Blows" contest.  For those of you who are newer to this site, this is an annual contest that (I think) was started by Dave Hood years ago.  You, the professional catastrophic claim adjuster, get to stick your finger in your mouth, hold it up to the air and make your most informed guess about where the first hurricane of the year will make...

This place is dead as a doornail! Oh well I guess that means we are all busy working and that is always a good thing. I remember a time not so long ago when these forums were always loaded with the good stuff. Those who have been Cado junkies for years have probably seen the forum content come and go. Maybe things will return to form at some point in the future.   I will hold my breath!

6 Replies and 3506 Views I've got kids-HELP!  3506  6 Started by  Cat-Man-Do Need a bit of help here and all advice or suggestions are welcomed. I'm a single dad with three girls ages 16,9, and 6 in Pensacola, Fl.  My prior arrangements regarding care for my kids have fallen through. I've looked on "nanny" websites and several things have made that avenue more than difficult. ( No definite start or end date, the unbelievable salary demands including vacation time and insurance, and the fact that most candidates are barely older than MY oldest ) Does ...

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I would like suggest that we make May the National Professionalism Awareness Month. While we always need to strive to be professionals in what we do I feel that having a month devoted to professionalism in adjusting will allow us to draw extra attention to professionalism and help us to be  better professionals through-out the year. Hopefully this will help us provide better service to the insured and insurers and work better with our peers.     The CPCU Society has its ...

7 Replies and 3380 Views I need advice  3380  7 Started by  WLacey Hello everyone; I would like to hear your opinions on this situation and any advice that you would share would be great. Last spring while working claims in Columbia, S.C., my hotel room was burglarized.  When I reported it to the hotel, the night clerk informed me that there was a key missing to my room.  ( it's a ving key not a "swipe" key).  The police came and made a report and noted that there was no forced entry into the room.  The next morning the Manager a...
