Very true, Joe and Mark. Things are rather bland here. I have not had to do any moderating at all and fear I will lose my job. I have heard Jim is no longer doing adjusting work and went into real estate after his medical problem. Some of the other ol timers have gone to fray. Time changes things and people, so who knows. I don't have anything juicy to expound upon, as 2006 was such a dead year for many adjusters. We are working some local stuff just to keep our heads above water, but our heads are barely above the water.

It is so quit (edited to quiet, which is the quite correct spelllin), here and on Kevins site I am starting to wonder who is left.

Seems like all the idiots have disappeared.  No one to pick on anymore. Everyone left has decent grammar and can spell. I hope that is a good sign.

Roy is working for Allstate as a manager somewhere in North Carolina, or South Carolina. He is doing well, but working hard for his income. He tells me he does not get on the internet much after a weeks work, he just rests.

This thread is just a little gossip fest, isn't it?  I talked to Flynt about a month ago because he is on my speed dial (along with a couple others) for when I need advice.  He is very happy pursuing his real estate deals and being a pillar of the community (donating trees and such).  I tend to think there is little activity because there has been so little on the catastrophe front.  I have a sneaking feeling that will changing in the next month or two as hurricane season visits us again. Does that make me an optimist or a pessimist? -- I don't know.  I only know that I haven't spent a lot of time on the site because I have been working a branch assist from hell since early February.  I have discovered a few things in the process:

1.)  Simsol is so much easier to use than Xactimate or Integraclaim.  It takes half the time to use Simsol, and time is money (and sanity).

2.)  Working from home is immeasurable harder for a catadjuster than working on the road.  As Jesus said, "The cares of the world swallowed them up" (The parable of the wheat and the tares)

3.  A branch assist assignment becomes all the more complex when you throw a winter storm (in Northeast PA) and a flood (in NJ) is the middle of it.  Branch assist is cool.  Catastrophe work is a great way to make a living.  Mixing the two is a shortcut to a nervous breakdown.

Only one more week and I'm free again to venture forth wherever an ill wind carries me.

These are my " things I have learned" added to the above list...

4. Family and Friends never recognize what you do as work if you're doing it from home!

5. The above mentioned people will never understand WHY you are up at 1:30 in the morning writing up a claim (further, think you're an IDIOT for being up at 1:30 in the morning writing a claim!!!!)

6. Most "regular" or so called "normal" people tend to think we're some kind of vulture, rubbing our hands together, waiting on a disaster to happen......hmmmmmmm I might have to rethink that one!!!  Let me rephrase....  They don't understand that we watch the weather channel continuously because we're concerned and we want to be ready at a moment's notice to leap into action to ASSIST those who have been left with damages, ( my caveat: We do not cause the weather to happen!!!!   '06 confirmed that, huh?)

and finally.....

7. A cat adjuster who has no cat work to do is a dangerous thing!!!!  LOL
