Laser Distaance Measuring Devices 54304 66
Started by hunter0544
I am interested in buying an adjuster-tested laser measuring device that works well indoor and outdoors.&160; Although I 've been a roofer/remodeler for two decades, I never really had to use a pointing device to take my measurements as there is always somebody else present to handle the other end of the tape. My search has narrowed it down to three instruments; of which I need to choose one!&160; a) the Stabila 200 at http://www.toolup.com/stabila/06200.html&160; &160;b) and c) Leica Disto ...

Warm Winter 2616 1
Started by ntzjazz
While inspecting a crop claim late yesterday, got covered with ticks and I am working in Montana.
Once noticed, must have picked a dozen ticks off my clothes while in the hay field and 6 more driving down the road.
Found 4 more on me back at the motel, get some bug spray before you go out.
It was a warm winter everywhere in the lower 48 and the bugs will be crawling!

TELESTEPS (SCRAP ALUMINUM, OR A NICE TOOL) 4659 2
Started by Roy Estes
Fortunately, for me these days I use building access to Roofs on most all of my claims, however I do like to run a few storm's a year to make that annual hit in the wallet. in 2011 I was on a small event and ran across a Roofer who had a telestep Ladder, All setup and nice. I shimmied up his ladder and liked it.
I got back in and finished writing what I scoped for the day, and went to Telespets website, and decided to order me a 300 lb 14' telesteps ladder. (I mean I aint fat or nothing, just a...

Macbook running XP sp2 and Xactimate 25 14253 20
Started by kurtshmiddie
I am a mac user and would like to know the level of success that has been achieved when running Xactimate 25 and XP. The reason for the question is that I currently have run and tested XP with Parellels, VMware, and Bootcamp. They have all worked well and I have been able to run various apps.
I downloaded the Xactimate 25 trial demo and attempted to install it in each of these environments listed above. In each case XP was crashed. The end result being XP attempt...

Good camerasThat work in hot and cold weather 4547 12
Started by Goldust
I was using a Nikon Cool pix camera this summer down on Dallas .On one memorable day when it was 104degrees I was taking photos of roof damage and the lcd screen went white. I hadn't had it for more than a month so I took it back to 'Best Buy Store'. I tried to return it and they had every story imaginable to not replace it. They said the high outside temperatures caused screen to go white. One other problem I was having was the lens would intermittently no shut off or return into camera. They s...

I am working on a fairly large hail claim. No question this is hail damage. The question is if this can be repaired or if the whole window requires replacement. Any assistance is appreciated. Using Xactimate 27.3.

Vehicles 10527 9
Started by MVTConsulting
I am looking for suggestions for a good vehicle for Cat Duty. My partner and I would like to have something comfortable, yet somewhere near economical. I have looked at '4 door Trucks, SUV's, Crossover type and small RV's and the like. I would like your opinions of what you use and why it works for you as a group.
Thanks for all for their opinions on what works for you.

How are the 5th Wheels toting Ladders? 4615 5
Started by pulling37
We are thinking of taking our 5th wheel on claims but not quite sure how to get a 22' ladder safely there. Perhaps someone is doing it and we'd like to hear what hardware you have installed to carry a ladder because the 5th Wheel uses up the truck bed.&160; TIA.&160; George

History of adjuster-contractor price guide,s 4156 0
Started by Ray Hall
I saw my first over 50 years ago ago when I was in staff property adjusting school. It was designed by adjusters and contractors to have a fair starting base to restore damaged property. Lots of changes, but not really and new reasons to change a system to estimate losses..... agree on a fair price and then do it line by line, room by room etc.&160;
Estimating programs keep both contractors and adjusters 'between the ditches' and this is why it takes several years and lots of practice to get t...

caliper 6188 6
Started by RandyC
I just bought a nice digital caliper for this winter storm.&160; It cost about $75 at home depot.&160; Now I can document the thickness of rubber roof membrane, metal roofing, and siding.&160; It has a hold feature on it so if the photo in situ doesn't show up.&160; I can press hold and move it with the display fixed to where a good close-up photo captures&160; the info.
