By GARRY MITCHELL (Associated Press Writer)
From Associated Press
January 11, 2007 2:49 PM EST
GULFPORT, Miss. - A federal judge ruled against an insurance company Thursday in a Hurricane Katrina damage case that could give a boost to hundreds of other homeowner lawsuits against insurers for refusing to cover billions of dollars in storm damage.
U.S. District Judge L.T. Senter Jr. ruled that State Farm Fire & Casualty Co. is liable for $22...

Are we a danger to ourselves? 4074 7
Started by Tom Toll
We all know that technology can be used for both good and evil: the splitting of the atom led to both nuclear power plants and nuclear bombs; GPS can be used to find lost children or by dictatorial governments to keep tabs on their citizens; RFID can be used to improve the efficiency of stocking a store's inventory or to invade our privacy, and so forth. The Internet can be used to keep in touch with faraway family members and expand our knowledge base, or it can be used by pedophiles to p...

Florida Licenses 11420 18

I asked a question on Claimsmentor.com and it has turned into a question that I am glad I asked. If you have a Florida non-resident or resident license, I strongly recommend you go to this web sight and check your status.

Fl emergency Govenor Crist order of 1/29/07 and the May 2007 Fl Govenor's Hurricane Conference 3837 0
Started by Dimechimes
This conference looks very interesting and under the "Who should attend" it does list Insurance associates. There are NO adjusting firms on the list of exhibitors in 2006 so you might be able to get in the ground floor on exhibiting at this convention that states it had over 4,000 attendees last year. The cost to attend looks very reasonable and I note that State Farm is one of the underwriters of the program(sponsors) and the only carrier thus far listed as an "underwriter" ...

The 2007 Thar She Blows Contest has started 2838 2
Started by host
The 2007 Thar She Blows contest has started. The contest was first created by Dave Hood (Katadj) a few years back, we did not have it the last two years. The way the contest works is you forecast or pick the storm that you believe will be the first hurricane (Cat 1 or greater) to make US landfall, the date that you believe it will hit and the state that it will make landfall in.
The form for the contest can be found on the Cane Page after you login under the CADO logo.&nb...

CPA in the dallas area? 3451 0
Started by strayycats
I was just wondering if anyone that lives in the Dallas metroplex can recommend a good CPA. I'd like to have all of the financial and legal aspects of my S-Corp set up before the season starts, and from what i have read, a good CPA goes a long way.
Thanks.

Computer Problems 3700 5
Started by Tom Toll
I have a HP pavillion zd7000 lap top that is just a little over a year old. For some unknown reason it started shutting itself down for no reason. Sometime it will go 2 to 3 hours before it happens and sometime it will shut down after 15 minutes, after re-start. Any of you computer guru's have an idea as to what could be wrong. I have cleaned the two cooling fans and that seemed to help somewhat, but did not stop the problem. I have claims to close and this is making it difficult. Any suggestion...

The Cado Hall of Fame 7419 22
Started by Jud G.
Ok Folks, I was pokin' around the archives and saw some interesting threads created a spell ago and noticed one that posed some nostalgic value. The humorous part is that the thread only dates back to the year 2000, 'Are Digital Photos Dead'.
The thread was started by long time poster/member, Simsol's John Postava. The question was brought up in a period where digital photography was becoming increasingly cost effective and conversely efficient. This thread has a nostalg...

Loyalty? 3658 13

I just added an old thread to the Hall of Fame thread and initially questioned the need for reopenining it due to Dirt's last post on that thread. It pretty much sums it up in his usual simple, concise, and shrewd manner.
However, with all of the pipe dreams out there in the past two years, I have a question and a follow up scenario:
If you've worked a few storms with a current vendor, do they have a right to expect your loyalty and discount you in t...

Thanks to All 3711 5
Started by Tom Toll
I am starting this thread, because I have a lot to be thankful for. First, of course, my wonderful wife who has put up with me for over 17 years. We have been married 15 of those years and with the exception of a few minor bumps in the road, we get along extremely well. Thank you Janice for being who you are.
Roy Cupps has been an inspiration to me for a number of years. He cares about people and gives what he can, and has done a marvelous job of it. His never ending and tireless work on CADO...
