The Unperfect Storm!

A few months ago, I had a storm that I cannot wait to forget! It seemed that nothing was going right!

The dispatching of assignments was the worse that I had ever had before. I had claims 300 miles to the North, 125 miles to the South, and 60 miles to the East. West was ocean, so I lucked out there! Fortunately, we were able to handle some smaller claims by phone, and/or reassign only the farthest away through a very small window of time. After that, you owned them, no matter where they were located!

The damage was from wind and rain, and numerous storms loomed over the western horizon. They just kept coming as the jet stream centered itself over California. Every one of the Insureds insisted on being inspected before the next storm hit. There was no patience factor in this storm. And believe me, the Insurance Company had given them the (800) Bury-Your-Adjuster number!

We knew we were in trouble from Day 1 when during the orientation session the one file examiner exasturbated on, "I'm gonna gig you for this, and gig you for that", and gig you to gig you! We all wondered if she had ever been on an 8+ pitch roof, or on a ladder at all? Anyway, we were helpless, and had to do our best, and pray!

Interestingly enough, the husband-wife teams came out the best! They had someone with the time to continually call the 30-40 messages each day, as well as to prepare very thorough log notes. If it looks good on paper, it must be good, right!? . . . I'll say it again, DOCUMENTATION, that's the name of the paperwork game!

Some storms eat you alive, but then comes the check. . .and you just can't wait to get out and do it again!! God help us!

See ya out there!

Just got back from a deployment similar to this. Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. But now the checks are coming.
