| Citizens has claimed X number of adjusters every year. They arrive at their total by having the independent adjusting firms committ to a specific number. They do not care how the IA firms arrive at their committment. I suspect if can find terms in the contract that penalize the IA firms if they do not produce the number of adjusters committed.
Since Citizens is a governmental entity, they are subject to the freedom of information act. Perhaps a request needs to be made. If I knew someone in the written media in Florida, they would be the logical party to request this information. Given Citizen's questionable actions in the prior years, I wouldn't take anything they say at face value.
Did anyone else note that the 5000 adjusters have 67 supervisors?
As for me, I will wait until their operations shows to be on firm financial, eithical and managerial footing before considering working for them.

| A friend of mine used to handle the Citizens account for an IA company. They would take his list and scrub it with the list submitted by the other IA firms. Any duplicate names were suppose to be removed from all lists. In reality he determined Citizens had established a favored vendor list. The higher up on the list you were with Citizens, the more likely you would keep the adjuster and the lower firm would have to find someone else.
Needless to say, when the storm hits, I predict less than 20% of the committed adjusters will show up to work Citizens. This means their supervisor count is accurate for their resources.

| Mike & Jim, Reading your posts confirms that there may be 5500 names on rosters for Citizens...but the names are on more than one roster and subject to be moved by Citizens from roster to roster. Pretty simple if you ask me. The adjuster just never knows who may be calling him/her to work Citizens. So I will just sit on the beach and wait to be called by a vendor I never committed to for a storm that has not formed.

| A couple of months ago I took the face to face training for the 2008 Citizens Certification and recieved a certificate and thought I was good to go for the 2008 Citizens Certification til I received an email today from our trainer which follows: Citizens expects all adjusters to have completed all "online training" courses for 2008. There are currently 4 in addition to the IA Adjuster Certification Training. * 2008 Citizens 101 * 2008 Good Faith Claims Handling * 2008 IA TTT Adjuster Certification * 2008 Policyholder Declaration of Rights

| Sort of reminds one of last year, doesn't it? Every couple of weeks a few new demands -- all for the privelege of receiving absolutely no work at all (at least for the last two years). Good luck to those who have decided they will be part of the Citizen's Team. I wish you well. And I'm glad I don't have to join you in the wonderful Citizen's certification process this year. | | Steve Ebner

Sounds like that publishers clearing house letter, "you made it to the second level, you've almost won. Now you have to do something else" Or the slot machine that give's you two jackpots, and the third one just one notch away. every time!

| | I guess they will be hiring off the street, throwing together a class, and turning those folks loose on the people who live in FL. | | | |

| Nita - There are only three online courses to take for 2008, the "2008 IA Adjuster Certification" is the title for the face to face training.
Mike - The 67 supervisors are the full timers. When a CAT happens the IA Firms supply one Team Lead for every 10 IA Adjusters. I think the number is the same for Desk Adjusters
Citizens is a lot more organized than their first year when they got hit with 4 hurricanes. The training is inconvenient, but they want people who know the Citizens system. Their training on Tile/Concrete Roofs and Pool Enclosures makes the time spent worth it. They are trying to be the best and lead the private companies by their example. It is refreshing to see that.
All CAT claims are filed electronically. It is very easy to work Citizens claims. The pay schedule is competitive. It's a lot easier to get information from their web site than other Insurance Companies. If you took the face to face training you should know how to log on and download Forms, Endorsements, etc.
BTW: I'm an independent, but I worked Ivan and Wilma for them.
