    RANT ON

Just told today ,  after 3 weeks into an assignment

THAT WE THE ADJUSTER NOW have to Mail out estimates to the insured

Ok they get 40 % plus 10% for management

They get 40% of our mileage photos expenses etc.

What are they doing for this money?

so now we have more work, more expenses, and no explanation and no more of the fee bill

    RANT OFF

    The old adage I've seen brought up time & time again is:  "know before you go";

But this sounds more like "now you see it, now you don't".  At carnivals, they call that magic.  See how that works?  It's $ magically disappearing from your pocket...except you expect that at the carnival and a willing victim as well.

Why are you only getting 50%? What do you think your job is? You are to adjust the loss from cradle to grave. You investigate the loss and settle the claim. For this you should recieve 65%. If you are not willing or able to settle the claim then you should only expect 50%. Who do you think is settling the claim?
Know before you go is good advice. Know who you are working for and what they expect or stay home.

Yeah, Swink....what happened to your profile?  We had an entertaining chat last nite, but I wanted to send a PM & couldn't. Your last question to me I couldn't answer for obvious reasons.

    Obviously he must know me.

But in reply to his cradel to grave ......fine yeah whatever .. no DUH  and all that
I specifically asked about mailing estimates at my first storm meeting and got a different answer . and to find out this far in that is required that the adjusters go back and mail the estimate doesn't sit well with me.

I hope that after all the claims are closed, all the paychecks hace cleared, we all come back and post comments about the vendors and the insane things these carriers have ask us all to do. I decided to work in KY instead of TX. My wife wanted me to stay a little closer to home and work in her home town. As one of the adjuster/lawyers of this bunch, I have seen things on this trip that have gone beyond insane. These carriers ignore state insurance regs and the insureds be dammed. It's my understanding you guys and gals in TX are running into some of the same. When you are ordered to ignore and refuse to pay for covered damage, then it's time to leave.

I look forward to the sharing of the insanity stories when the paychecks clear the bank.

Not being able to be there this year, I would like to know of the insanity of the companies and vendors. Adjusting is becoming a position on the lower food chain. I tuned down several losses here in AR due to too much driving and the probability of small losses, (small service invoice) I don't like driving for 5 hours, even though I get paid .55 cents per mile and making a minimal fee. This is not the business I am in. I am in the business of service and income for providing that service.

Let us hear those stories people.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

I really have no complaints with the claims I have

I just find it disturbing that something like this can come after I have been here 3 weeks, I feel for the guys that have been here since day 1. It just makes you wonder what else will change? Payday? pay percents% Have our other instructions been correct?

and keep in mind I had a face to face with the storm manager when I showed up and asked Specifically about this , then sat through "2" adjuster meetings in One week with well over 100 adjusters, and this was never mentioned.

So yeah I had a rant , and if it happens in the future, I am sure I will react the same.

Well, ya gotta stay light on your feet these days. The only constant is "change".

Wait a minute..............I was sayin' the same thing waaaaay back in '99 or so.

I know the feeling.  When we started with the IA we are working for ( Starting with Gustav in September and now Ike) we were told we would receive $2 per photo plus $.65 mileage after first 30 miles.  Received email from them last week saying they are keeping $1 per photo because it takes up space on their servers and they are arguing about mileage.  Also wanting us t send estimates to the insureds, proof of loss claims and a bunch of other stuff at our time and expense.  And to add insult toinjury, have yet to receive a paycheck from them, even for the Gustav claims in September.  Seems like every other day they are changing the rules - to their benefit, not ours.

Just who are you guys working for?

Some many years ago, I had a very short stint with a firm that pulled the mail thing out of the blue. And, I was told that I would not be compensated for the stamps, ink, time, etc.
I went into the office with all my claims and set them on the manager's desk and told him why I was quitting and that I needed a check. After a lot of verbiage both ways, I picked up his laptop and walked out.

He called me a few minutes later and tried to get me to bring it back. I promised I would when the check cleared. He threatened to call the police, etc, etc.

My wife got a check via Fed Ex in two days and I took his computer back.

In all honesty, I don't even remember the name of the outfit or the manager's name. The gig was very short, not very sweet and easily forgettable.

Has all the earmarks of a guy from Bradenton, FL.

If it is, better toss all the files into the drink, file a lien on every property, hire a good attorney, or call in some heavy hitters.

And BTW, do you have a signed contract? If not, UR in deep do do.

And i really like Larry's approach, walk in nice and kewl,  No hassels, no arguments and then take the laptops. all of them, and tell them to come on
