I am not complaining but I have not made as much money from Ike as I expected.  I have been doing this for about 10 years now and expected Ike to be the most profitable CAT yet but it does not seem to be the case.

Is this just a bad storm for me?  You guys having a different experience?

Some days you eat the bears and some days the bears eat you.

But, i do agree, it's nothing like Katrina.

I though I knew a lot about the Texas Gulf Coast, but I have never seen large hungry bears in this part of the country, until hurricane IKE. I have no fear of drowning any more.  My fear now is my silver bullets have very old powder and not enough velocity to stop the large young bears who circle me on the high ground as well as the vultures in the sky... my bones may never be found.

My impression coming from people dealing with Ike claims, is that it was somewhat of a disappointment. I know I was placed on standby by Republic Insurance, and am still on standby. It appears that people had either a total loss, or very little damage. Ah well, nature of the business.

The second and third wave of claims never came. The high % wind deductible in this area and the lack of neighbor"itis" that usually keeps the claim counts going never materialized. Roughly 2 weeks ago these items placed the breaks on any new claims.

This is for the new and old people in the catastrophe business. This will kill most of the 3 day adjuster mills; HOWEVER if you have a real interest in learning go to claims mentor new class that last 10 weeks and cost $8.00 for a 2 or 3 hour session. I attented one last year or this year on how to work a condo loss from DEB and I learned what I DID NOT KNOW and I am not that modest. I will be in her class when it starts, if the bears do not eat me alive. This has been the biggest wind down in the shortest time frame I have seen in 50 years. I think we were all FICUS TREE'd and inside adjuster 'd. Any other thoughts. This storm impacted 12-15 million people in Texas alone. I think OHIO and the midwest was larger than the landfall coast of Texas.

Now I know whe have some strong opines out in bear country, less hear them as this sucker is winding down too fast for me

See what you did Ray?  You Ficus'd everybody out of work.  If I were you, I would find the closest rock & start digging!!  Appeal to the court and have your name changed to" Highntight" or something similar!    You can run but you can't hide.

All kiddin' aside, this is a strange event for hitting the 4th largest metro area in the USA, plus extending into the Ohio valley.  Maybe we can blame the lack of claims on the Republicans.  If the market keeps tanking, maybe the claims will increase...particularly in the area of Biz Income Loss.
