25 yr old felony conviction, problem for Texas Adj App? 17612 28
Started by turbocycle
Just wondering if anyone has any feedback for me on this
I have a 25 year old felony theft conviction that was for a few hand tools -- shouldnt have been close to a conviction but had court appointed attorney at the age of 18! Well anyway, wondering if I could get the Texas adjuster license with such a record I know I can explain it all when I submit the app but wondering if anyone on here has been denied for same reason
Think my 20 years in management which included carry...

I was wondering if anyone could please give me any input as far as the following.
In Calif., it is clear that labor cannot be depreciated (see below from Calif Code of Regulations). Are there any equivalent laws in LOUISIANA Can anyone provide any citations to relavent case law or even just anecdotal cases Thanks

Paper pushing file reviewers-slowly ruining the claims adjusting job 11723 40
Started by Bobabooey
I remember the good old days of getting hired to go look at a claim, write an estimate, and close the file. My main responsibility was to make correct coverage decisions and write fair and reasonable estimates. If contractors or insureds submitted higher invoices, then it was my job to meet and discuss the invoices with them and come to a fair conclusion. It was my job to make decisions-that is what i was hired to do. I adjusted claims and enjoyed it. On a good day I...

Adjusting/Estimating conflict 9919 29

I'm just wondering if there is anything unethical about doing private estimates for homeowners who are not happy with their settlement offer while also working for various claims agencies as an IA I know of guy that was encouraged to get into the adjuster biz and work as an IA sub for another IA, but ended up mostly doing these private estimates (he did 80-100 out of about 400 the boss IA did). They weren't cheap - $2000 - $10,000. The newbies name is on many of those estimates (done in X-...

Competition in the roofing business 3285 5
Started by Ray Hall
DFW area and Houston area have always had very good roofing contractors who made a living off regular local event like 50-60 MPH spring, fall or winter winds. Hail from pea size to quarter size. This was in the days of the HOB which had RCC.
The salesmen were contingency paid. No new roof, no job and no pay. Most of the salemen were under 35 and could climb a roof like a mountain goat. The large companies would sent out 6-8 for a sub division and leave door hangers, then follow up with door...

Unreturned Phone Calls/emails 4146 9
Started by JimGary
At any orientation we attend, one the major topics discussed is returning phone calls. We are told "if you do not return your calls, you will be sent home". That has always been harped on to me by carriers and vendors, whether I was staff or independent. And it is an important point to make. I personally am fanatic about such things, I hate having anyone wait on me for a returned call.
I have been amazed though at the number of unreturned calls or emails that go unanswered by IA vendo...

My opine is not as good as the experts; but I think a monster hurricane will hit Texas or Florida with in the next 50 days.
All new and old adjusters try not to be cheated by the known and not surfaced vendors and subs of venders and the subs of the subs. Ask more questions. Keep a copy of ever file that you submitted for payment on PAPER with the date the computer printed it out.
This file is your evidence you did the work . Make the vendor sign a release allowing you to contact the carrier d...
