22 Replies and 7640 Views First major deployment of the 2007 Cane Season, what will it mean?  7640  22 Started by  host
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I have some concerns about the first major deployment this season, will it be too little too late Of course that depends on the size of the cane and where it hits. So many adjusters could be deployed in an effort to get as many out as possible that the claim count per adjuster would be very low and some may in fact  lose money if they are not careful. I'm not wanting to burst any bubbles but at the same time I don't want to see adjusters putting too much stock in the fi...

12 Replies and 3488 Views CADO Membership reaches 10,000  3488  12 Started by  katadj From the stats that are published here, we have over 10,000 registered members/guests. And yet the majority are non -paying guests who have only privileges to access our open forums. There is some really good inside information which needs to be disseminated. This is contained in the "Adjusters Den" which is accessible by the paying members only. Why can 90 percent read what is open to the public and only less than 10 pay for the privilege of accessing the "Den" and prov...

6 Replies and 2943 Views New Adjuster    2943  6 Started by  stephie76 Hi guys! I've been lurking on this board for a while. I got my TX adjusting license a few months ago. Attended classes for adjusting and Xactimate. I've done the Citizen's certification. I keep seeing ads for "Daily Claims". I've applied and not heard anything other than thank you and you are on our roster. So what does it take to finally get started Is it really just a waiting game for a hurricane Any suggestions   Steph

13 Replies and 4018 Views Forum Moderation  4018  13 Started by  StormSupport I have deleted this post because obviously there are those who have misplaced their sense of humor.   But I have to say that  I really don't appreciate being accused of being unprofessional.  You know nothing about my professionalism.  Is it more appropriate  or professional to accuse someone of being unprofessional over what clearly is good natured teasing of an associate than it is to give a colleague a bit of ribbing in a public forum

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
Please post if anyone has more information on this as to when this may be effective. The information found on line is DRAFT versions of the proposed ACT: In other matters there was a positive development in the Producer Licensing (D) Working Group’s work on the draft Independent Adjuster Licensing Model Act.  The regulators agreed with PCI and others and removed language from the model that would have required the registration of company adjusters and that they satisfy continuing edu...

5 Replies and 4122 Views Lightning Strike  4122  5 Started by  David Branch With this beautiful weather across the country it sounds like you all need some work related stimulation so here it is. You helped me once before but this time it’s on my own home.   I can’t find much info on lightning strikes. Specifically, the path the lightning strike takes. Here is my situation. Your opinions are greatly appreciated. I apologize for the length but felt you are detail oriented people and would want to see it all.   My two story, Santa Fe style, stuc...

6 Replies and 5064 Views White Collar Job In A Blue Collar Uniform  5064  6 Started by  Catsvstrained  I believe that the claims industry can be very misleading to most outsiders because it has all of the outward appearances of a blue collar job when in fact it is truly not.  Example:  six years ago while working a hail storm in San Antonio I overheard a home owner tell his son "that is the kind of job that you will have to take if you don't go to college"  as they watched me setting up my ladder to complete a roof inspection. For the record, at the time of t...

1 Replies and 2869 Views I AM IA  2869  1 Started by  Catsvstrained    Based on your posts , I know that there are a lot of you who share much of the same passion for catastrophe claim work as I do. Dedication to detail in this ever changing  industry has proven time and again to be the greatest asset to success for both me and my circle of  IA friends. The combined efforts of independents alone from the new to the experienced “old salts” is larger and has more control over the future of the storm claims profession than any other ...

1 Replies and 3072 Views Update: Commercial vs Residential  3072  1 Started by  David Branch Hey everybody, thanks to each of you for your input.  All the advice and comments were put to good use. One of the most important things you did was eliminated the fear that we, in the general population, have of insurance companies. To refresh your memories, the insurance company and the GC were 50K apart. Because of the difference between the formats of the exactimate bid and the GC's long hand bid, it was hard to tell where the difference was. I acted as the owner's rep an...

2 Replies and 2774 Views FL Citizens  2774  2 Started by  TXAD A friend/ adjuster told me recently that during 05' storm season, Florida Citizens was requiring it's adjusters (incl. independ.) to research the insureds history and past photos to make sure that damages that were paid for previously aren't paid again.  His complaint was the fact that it took so much more time to process a claim by doing all the extra research. Has anyone else encountered this situation or did I maybe misunderstand what he was saying   Thanks

10 Replies and 3280 Views Like kind & quality    3280  10 Started by  butch sanders Is color taken into account, when roofing tile needs to be replaced I have a customer with a tile roof, that is no longer manufactured. Also they only want to replace 30 foot of  ridge. This means the homeowner will have 2 different types of ridge. I cannot warranty a repair like this, and it will look hor...

15 Replies and 4458 Views Adjuster accidents  4458  15 Started by  Bobabooey   I am bored.  Anyone have any interesting accidents on the job   Last week with my FatMAx i nearly sliced my finger to the bone when retracting it and not paying attention.   On several occasions while on a roof, my tape measure has fallen off of my pants, bounced off of the roof,  and almost smashed a window out of an insd's car.  I have got lucky so far and have never actually hit anything.   Anyone ever hit a car with their tape measure

4 Replies and 3540 Views Team Adjusting and GoToMyPC  3540  4 Started by  host I was talking to some teams that adjust claims together about how they help each other and one team indicated that they would get help from their partner who was at  home or some other location by using Go To Mypc.  One example was were the person was on the storm site and while they were out making inspections the partner would connect to the laptop from home and work on the estimates, photos and so on.  Have any other teams tried this I

11 Replies and 4489 Views Commercial vs Residential  4489  11 Started by  David Branch Hi Everybody! This is my first time here. I'm not one of you so please forgive me if I'm violating some protocol. I am a retired plumbing contractor helping a friend go through his claim from State Farm. The bid is very detailed and has 99 of the stuff covered and even some stuff that I'm surprized the ARE covering! My question to you: This was a fire that partially destroyed a small commercial building yet the bid sheet heading says, "Summary for Fire - Dwelling".  And lots...

12 Replies and 4039 Views Did the 2005 hurricane season make it harder to make money?  4039  12 Started by  Bobabooey I work for a smaller adjusting company.  Before 2005 we had about 15 adjusters and I made pretty good money each year off of a few small storms.  If there was a hurricane then that was an added bonus and I had a great year.  After the hurricanes in 2005, my company hired an additional 30 or so new adjusters-anyone that wanted to work because the claims were there.    Now during smaller storms there are 4 times as many adjusters sent and it is hardly worth even ...
