'stepping on toes'...
'dancing'...
Sounds like we all need to work on our rain dancing skills...

Please! No more rain dances if you live anywhere around North Texas. I have fish living in the wheel tracks from the lawn tractor...and the grass is getting high again! Randy Cox

In the same boat, it's so slow that I have time to read all the replies on catadjuster.org. Tim I.

That shouldn't take too long.

I beg to differ. Check the archives and you will find plenty (52,643 to be exact).

Larry,
I thought you were a staffy kind of guy these days. Are you back on the independent side now?

The liability business is also slow. Last night at 11PM Jim Adler , the tough Houston Plantiff lawyer ran an add on dog bites cases on TV. Talk about a doggie case.....

Steve, The staffy deal kinda fell apart. Can you believe I was given a quota of claims to be done on a hail storm? Quotas?? I don't think so. Still an independent at heart if not in practice. I'm writing estimates for a contractor and don't have no stinkin' quotas. I work hard (well, kinda) all day, every day and don't do quotas. Sure wish there was a good little hail storm somewhere. Now let me get this straight, Larry. Do you or do you not like quotas. The goal I used to set for myself was take whatever the staffy kinda guys were producing and multiply by 2.5. Of course, they were on salary and I was on commission.

I have been getting claim assignments from two companies. The claims are wind, lightning and old hail claims. Water damage to ceiling claims are being turned in and I am finding hail damage that occured in 2003 and 2004 and have started leaking due to the heavy rains in Northeast Texas. I have been assigned two dog bite claims this year so far. Assignments are slowing down and I need to be assigned to a hurricane soon. Last year I worked as a temporary inside marine adjuster for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company from October through February. I do not look forward to a 150 mile round trip to Dallas five days a week again.

I used to really like quotas, especially with cold milk. But then I started getting heartburn after 4 or 5 and had to quit. No fargin quotas for me, thanks. Larry D Hardin

I was a staffy kind of guy for a long time. The 1st company I was with, the less claims we got....yahoo! But you better work them all good. That was the Cincinnati Co's. A great Co to work for. If you'all are a young interested starter-upper, check them out. They will train you well, treat you like gold, but pay you poor to start, and the pay won't match others for awhile. But it's a mighty fine company to work for, with multi-line experience.
Then, the next one (I thought I left for greener pastures, more $, etc), then all of of sudden it became quotas that you as the lone-ranger adjuster just had no control over. So...na-hoo! What do we need you for, salaried boy, if the claims are low? Then, the big old hail storms hit across the desolate plains and they had to call in the independents to help me out..., so according to the bean-counters, what was I good for other than 16 hrs aday to have payment authority, re-check their work, get them around the area, and then report that the branch manager was embezzling money with a buddy roofer of his. That was another part of the quota, I suppose, but one that wasn't included in my job description. It only followed in my job experience as a witness in court. Once the quotas fell, so did I. From what I've heard, that carrier's adjuster expense (IA) is 10X what my salary/benefit cost was per year, over the past 5 years. I wonder what happened to the bean-counter(s) that made that decision?
