Catastrophe Adjuster Conferences 6958 9
Started by Jud G.
I'd like to hear from those who have been to conferences in the past and had good experiences with them. Please indicate why they were beneficial.
The last one I went to was the Windstorm Conference in Orlando last year. They had the Umpire Certification course offered for those who wish to do this in Florida. The General Session speakers were fantastic and entertaining.
This conference had a pretty even mix of people from both the Carrier and PA sides. I saw this as a ...

30 Year 3-D Comp. Roof Life 3929 5
Started by Ray Hall
My wife is a Realtor and is always asking me how long the roofs in our community (Kingwood, TX) are supposed to last. Most have adequate attic ventalation.
Need answers from consumers, roofers and adjusters about how long a shingle like this should last before being replaced. All the roofs are steep 7/12 and up. Some have trees overhanging.
Many of the houses are 12, 15, 18 years old. I contend and my experience is all they will turn water for a least 20 years, more...

contractor reconciliations 4756 6

Hi All- I've been at this for quite some time now, but I always am interested in fine tuning the techniques. Please weigh in on how you would deal with the following adjuster/contractor scenarios:
1: The contractor has "advised" the insured on what they "should get" if the adjuster is fair with them, before you ever get there. In other words, this contractor is acting somewhat like a PA. They have overscoped, and want to be with you and the insured when you scope so ...

The following scenario is presented for discussion: Ms. Insured notices that the shingles on her roof are in pretty bad condition, and being one who likes to keep her home in top notch condition, asks some friends to assist her in replacing the shingles. The friends are not roofing contractors and will not be paid for their work. Ms. Insured checks the weather Friday morning and finds that the outlook is for three days of sunshine ...

Greetings all, --- i have not posted since the format change, but my previous CADO handle was simply 'Doug'.
Anyway, it is slow out there for 75 (or more) of the independents right now- no surprise there. Consequently i have applied for staff/office positions at one of the majors. I have been informally accepted for a 'telephone auto adjuster' position handling entry level auto claims, and have also interviewed for a property job as well.

Picture pages . . . 4004 7

Years ago I had a template in Excel into which I could place pictures and label them. It had a header for each page with a place for Insured's name, claim , policy number & DOL, and (I think) a place for the adjuster's name; it was set up the size of a letter page (landscape) & would allow four pictures per page. It's been rather slow this summer and I am no longer leasing an estimating program, so don't have SimSol or IntegriClaim to fall back on. I have just been assigned a ...
