10 Replies and 2723 Views Blame it on the dog  2723  10 Started by  margar1 I was woking a water loss claim last week that was&160; doozie. The claim was local so I was able to inspect the loss just hours after the loss was reported. When I arrived for the inspection the insured stated that the neighbour called him while at work when he noticed water in his driveway. The insured had worked the night shift and a strong thundertorm passed through. The family dog who is terrified of storms was home alone to ride it out. When I entered the home drywall was collapsed from t...

Tell me what ya'll think. I went on an inspection today for&160;a&160;claim with a 2008 date of&160;loss.&160; There are no coverage issues.&160; There are twenty-five buildings, partial two-story, with two layers of t-locks and&160;40-50 squares per building.&160; I estimate the shingles are about 12 years old and in average condition.&160;&160;&160;The top layer is an off-white color.&160;&160;There is a total of about 1100 squares of surface area.&160; Each building has an av...

10 Replies and 2969 Views For New adjusters only-sample reading files  2969  10 Started by  Ray Hall Some time I forget how I was trained. I was trained one on one for several months by a senior adjuster who I was assigned to by our employer to give me a segment of my training. But I read about 200-300 files that were closed before I was hired and about 20 new files that came in about 20 per day from staff and IA adjusters in the SW USA. Thinking back I learned more from reading actual files and ask questions and it stayed with me more. I have several hundred files in my computer and in file ...

19 Replies and 3852 Views The bitter with the sweet  3852  19 Started by  margar1 I am just adding a post to contribute to the forums since things are a bit slow. This post may or may not be beneficial but I am sure there are those that can definately relate. When I was a greenhorn just out of school I worked for years as a union Ironworker. Job placement was tricky and we covered a lot of different areas. Some jobs were great like erecting steel for bridges and high rises. some jobs were less glorious like tying rebar on a parking garage. I remember my dad telling me to take...

13 Replies and 2754 Views The big 4 in 04  2754  13 Started by  margar1 I broke into catadjusting in 02 and I can remember the barrage of new adjusters during the big 4 in o4. I can recall being still fairly new to the buisness and seeing all of the new adjusters that were deployed as warm bodies. It was a good feeling to have a couple of years under my belt during Frances,Jeanne,and Charley and I can still remember the bewildered look in the eyes of the new crop. I can only wonder how many of those adjusters are still around....... &160;
