Ladder Safety 48959 67
Started by Tom Toll
I hope all remember how to set up their ladders to prevent ladder accidents.
A safety scenario: Ladder safety while in transport.
Our ladders are a necessary tool in order to complete claim assignments. How we carry our ladders is a vital safety concern also. I have seen adjusters put long ladders in the pick up bed with no red flags on the end and do not secure them from flying out of the bed while in transport. That scenario is an accident looking for a place to happen.
Always red flag y...

Roof Safety 52696 54
Started by Raaptyr
I just went from being an adjuster for a locale to being a CAT adjuster and discovered my CAT boss thinks I should be getting on roofs my old boss would not have expected me to get on. Anyway, I'm trying to find a post on roof safety equipment (I already have cougar paws) that can be done by an adjuster by himself. I can't find such a discussion but I'm sure it is in here somewhere or maybe a few people could give me some ideas I've heard of kneeling boards but can't seem to f...

Historical Weather Data 19052 2
Started by SnookHunter727
Weather Underground typically forces me to the nearest airport. I looked into CoreLogic, but unsure of cost.
Any advice on best option for securing weather data Specifically wind with all of the fraudulent dates we get reported here in FL. I&39;d love some options and pricing.
Thanks!

UAV’S (Drones) 3158 0
Started by Toddvg
I have been searching the WWW trying to figure out if I should upgrade my Drone and if it will be worth the money. Having a Remote Pilots License for several years and flying drones for even longer, I want to make sure the next DRONE I get is the right one for Adjusting work. I have owned several different type of drones but they were all for fun. I currently own DJI Spark, DJI Phantom 4, and a crashed DJI Inspire, and always used the DJI GO app & iPad Mini.
Now with all the 3rd party apps ...

Which nationally recognized software would be good to validate cost of new construction for your typical 2-3 Bedroom 1200-2000 sf residential structure
Would it change if you were doing a commercial structure, such as an office building, convenience store or even a casino

Toolbelt Review 13782 4
Started by BobH
I have been a fan of the customtoolbelt.com (cat-man-do) toolbelt for 9 years, and thought I would do a brief review for those who haven't tried it.
This is not an advertisement, I am not being paid. This is an unsolicited opinion to help those who are walking around holding a clipboard in their hands.
That is the heart and soul of the customtoolbelt.com system, you don't have to hold anything.
That isn't a big deal for 'lightweight' claims - but if you have ever worked a bad fire...

Helicopter GoPro? 10894 14
Started by Tom Rongstad
I perform multi-line dailies, therefore; minimal roof inspections have occurred in the past few years. Most of the time, an expert is engaged to do so. However, I have always thought about ways that roof inspections will no longer be needed, once the Eagle View type products entered the market a few years ago.
Now, in many years gone past, when I did chase the storms, some of the roofs were very challenging, and there were few options back then. I am talking about the years 1989 - 1995.&n...

Cell Phone Booster? 5415 1
Started by BurnesAdjusting
I've been running claims in remote parts of Texas where Verizon's coverage is spotty. I've considered getting a sim card for AT&T on a prepay plan or something like that, but it seems to be a PITA to do, not to mention having to use a different phone number and swap the sim cards out all the time.
So I want to get a cell phone signal booster for my truck.
Have any of you used them Which brand/model is best and why

Cougar Paws vs Vans, Airwalks, and Chuck Taylors, etc. 7786 4
Started by BurnesAdjusting
I've seen a lot of adjusters that prefer skateboard style shoes (vans and airwalks) or basketball shoes like Chuck Taylors over Cougar Paws for steep slope roofs.
It's not that I'm being cheap. I would just like to explore all options. Have any of you used any other type of shoe besides Cougar Paws and had success with it
For example, I used to use a Nike tennis shoe designed for clay courts. Loved it up to an 8 and a newer 9. Then I'd use cougars for anything over tha...

What's the best way to protect your rope over the ridge 14928 19

I just recently got all of the equipment needed for my rope and harness. I've been acquainting myself with it on my roof since its not too steep (7/12) and feel confident in my abilities using it. Help Wanted - how to use all this technology 6119 4

Hello all,
I have read on these forums some adjusters mention using XactScope on their Ipad for sketching houses, Dragon Naturally Speaking software for labeling photos and narrating scope of repairs and perhaps even their loss reports, entering measurements to XactScope via Disto automatically and perhaps a few other 21st century tricks.
I wonder if any of these techno geniuses would be willing to teach an old dog some new tricks.
I've had XactScope on my Ipad for at least two years now but ...
