Just south of the Cape Verde islands a tropical disturbance is developing and the conditions are in it's favor for developing as it travels 15-20 mph.
Sounds good to me. |

Long way to go and very early in season. But fun to watch. |

I'm really torn here. Should I wish for this system to become a hurricane and hit the mainland so y'all can go to work and survive a little while longer? Or should I wish for it to die out and do nothing so my hopes of winning the Thar She Blows contest remain intact (or coming in a tie like last year with Janice). Tough call here. Tis the season to get excited about every wave that forms in the Atlantic though. |

Well,
It looks like Bertha is a fish and is staying out to sea. |

The season is young, don't fret, it will happen this year. I just hope it is a moderate storm so the insurance companies can stay afloat. |

Bertha remains interesting today, some models now suggest a more westward motion, possible threat to the Canadian Marintines. Very interesting storm to watch. |

About 40 years ago the Rio Grande valley had severe flooding from a small cain just like Dolly. Many flood policies in this area, coupled with the Homeowners wind driven rainbut will not cover flood, this could be a nice little storm.

You all wanted a hurricane, well you got one and it is doing some extensive wind damage and flooding. Call your vendors now to get deployed in a few days. Wish I could go, but can't. I still have too many claims in Arkansas to leave. Good luck to all of you and be careful out there. |

I just heard from the Applebee's Parking Lot Guy. As he'll be glad to tell you, he is always the first one called out by the best firm to handle the most claims. In fact, he tells me he already has half the storm inspected already. Watching the news at lunchtime, I felt my pulse racing a bit. But, like Tom, I will be plugging away here in California for the duration. Good Luck, everyone. |

I will be honest and say I am going to miss going to Tx. to work this event. My pulse, like yours, Steve, is on standby and going strong. I have the weather channel on and it is going to be a good event for a few. TWIA will have a lot of claims, so if you know a vendor and are TWIA approved, go for it. Good luck and think of Steve and I while your there.
Lot of flooding going on there too and is continuing. Looks like another event may be coming off the coast of Africa. When it rains, it rains. |

TWIA will have the lion's share of the wind exposure as they are by far the biggest in the 1st tier counties (coastal). good timing for this to hit as historically this is going into the hottest, most humid part of the year to be in south TX. I haven't seen exactly where it went in, but if it is very close to Brownsville/Harlingen area it should generate some good #'s of claims. |

Here's the "stand down" notice that just came in my E-mail --------------- A big thanks for quickly letting us know you were available, should Hurricane Dolly produce some work. At this time, we are not sending anyone out, so you are officially released from standby. I will stay in touch and look forward to working with you on the next storm that produces work. --------------- |
