In 1970 three of us rented a 3 bedroom unfurnished house in Corpus Chisti, Tx for a large hurricane. Two of us had houses in the island town of Port Aransas that was almost wiped out by wave wash and wind. We furnished the house with all the beds and "stuff" we found on the beach. The prize was a RCA color TV that worked for months before it croaked in a puff of smoke. Many people who have flood losses still use this system, clean, sun dry and use until it puffs. Thats why NFIP requires serial numbers.
