Saving sketch to pdf? 4505 6
Started by heythisisaj
Hey ya'll, I'm a newbie to this website, but not a newbie to Xactimate. However, I am trying to increase efficiency with the reports I do on a day to day basis, and I've never figured out how to get a document of just my sketch, with all of the measurements showing (sometimes, if its over 20-25 squares, the measurements get lost) and the 3-d images showing Is there an easy way to do this Currently, I just use snagit and snag every aspect of the sketch that I need and throw it...

Best internet options? Do you guys use air cards? 3544 4
Started by Bobabooey
I'm thinking of renting a small office to work out of and I do not know if I should buy regular internet access via DSL or cable, or get a wireless card
IF I get wireless, I can use it in my car and have it with me at all times, but I am worried about quality of service. I have heard from many people that their wireless internet service sucks.
You guys have any opinions on this

World Claim 3839 2
Started by mahively
I have been contacted by World Claim to go overseas to work as a 'public adjuster' for them. I have not run across them and am looking for any feedback anyone might have on them. I have many, many questions about working overseas obviously so I am not going to jump into this blindly but would like to find someone that has worked with them previously. Thanks, Mark

Any Electronics Restoration Company you use as a go-to vendor? 2983 3

I would like some input from the property adjusters of all levels, particularly in California.
Is there a go-to Electronics Restoration/Decontamination/Data Recovery Company that you use on a normal basis How often do you use or need this vendor based upon your caseload What is the associated cost for an inspection and how far are they willing to travel to inspect damaged electronics How would you rate their service and would you be interested in a better quality and more efficient vendor fo...

CADO Coinsurance calculator 5062 10
Started by Leland
I was checking out the coinsurance calculator available here on CADO and I would like to make some suggestions to make it better. First of all I would like to say thanks to Roy for this website and secondly, thanks to whoever started the coinsurance calculator (if it wasn't Roy himself).
1) The words 'Coinsurance Penalty' should be changed to say 'Percentage compensable' or 'Coinsurance percentage compensable'. If the amount getting paid after applying coinsurance is 81, then .81 is not ...

Hurricane Isaac now projected to become a major hurricane (CAT3) 4019 10
Started by CatAdjusterX
Hey folks,
all I can say is wow! Hurricane Isaac is tracking to the extreme west and as such will spend that much more time over the 88/90 degree waters of the Gulf of Mexico. With that, a CAT 3 is now a realistic possibility and landfall is expected somewhere near the mouth of the Mississippi river. Those of us who remember Katrina (how could we ever forget) knows that brings the Mississippi Gulf River Outlet into play. This system of levees will funnel all that storm surge right up ...

Xactimate prices below labor/material cost - help 11058 4
Started by Anhonestroofer
We primarily work insurance claims but not at this particular office location. However, a storm recently came through and the Xactimate numbers are coming back lower than our cost.
Ultimately we want to make the homeowner happy and close the file. Generally, Xactware has fair prices that leave enough profit to cover all costs associated with the job while maintaining a decent profit margin. This time is different.
Based on experience, can anyone shed some light on how this could be resol...

You receive a commercial claim assignment 9751 33
Started by HuskerCat
This question is posed to you by an independent inside claims consultant.
I've been in your shoes as a field adjuster, both staff and independent. You are an IA, and a new assignment comes in via Xact from your IA firm. You know who the carrier is and may have worked previously for them, but it has been directly assigned to your IA firm by the carrier's call center before all coverage information is confirmed or is provided by the carrier's inside examiner.
This is a commercial los...

recycling shingles to use on another slope 4458 8
Started by Leland
An attorney I know sent me a copy of an Xactimate estimate from a major insurance carrier. The estimate calls for replacing a couple of slopes on the dwelling and reusing some of those shingles on a detached structure, so the detached structure can have a uniform appearance. This idea was surprising to both of us.
I have never heard of removing old asphalt comp shingles and reusing them. Am I missing something
Anybody hear of this before
Is it considered acceptable in the roofing trad...

Flat fee schedule 3794 1

Well it has been a few years since I visirted this site and even longer since I posted. It has been interesting to read some of the threads and it seems that the more things change the more they seem to stay the same.
I have a question regarding fee schedules at a flat rate. Between Cat events I work some daily claims for a few companies. I am based out of Paducah,Ky and it seems most of my volume comes from Nashville,Tn. with most of the claims being commercial. My commercial claims...

The ten rules of adjusting 4972 17
Started by olderthendirt
Can we set a group of ten simple rules (the ten commandments if you will) based on common sense (if it was common why is it so rare). So you people who like me are too lazy or too brain damaged to escape this business lets here some ideas. I will kick it off with what I believe is the only valid number one rule of adjusting
1 DON'T PANIC
do you agree and lets hear some ideas for the rest of the rules.

Subrogation or Contribution 6831 14

I recently had occasion to assist in helping my fiancee get fully indemnified for a claim in which two insurance carriers were involved. I won't say who the two carriers were, but suffice it to say that one of them trained me much more proficiently than the person I was dealing with at that company. I believe the person they were using as their adjuster was an independent, and probably a catadjuster. I never got a straight answer on that. I wasn't able to ...

WORKING&160;ABROAD:&160;&160; Simply put, we are creatures of habit.&160; Handling claims in the U.S.A. is pretty much the same no matter what state you are working in.&160; Sure, there are subtle differences in coverages, management styles and local building codes, but the day-to-day handling of claims is pretty much 'standard issue'.&160;&160;
Adjusting in other countries, however, presents some pretty unique challenges for the first-time-abroad-adjuster.&160; The simplest things that...
