I'm thinking of renting a small office to work out of and I do not know if I should buy regular internet access via DSL or cable, or get a wireless card?

IF I get wireless, I can use it in my car and have it with me at all times, but I am worried about quality of service.  I have heard from many people that their wireless internet service sucks.

You guys have any opinions on this?

I worked in cellular tower industry for several years and worked for several different companies. IMO the Verizon Wireless network is far superior to anything else out there and have been with them since aircards first came out. I actually took my computer and VZW aircard into the ATT retail store to test against their 3G - No Comparison. (This can vary depending on network upgrades in different parts of the country)
VZW also is the only carrier that I am aware of that has standby generators on site at every ground mounted location and most rooftop antenna mounts. (No Trailer mounted gens being hauled to dead towers in the middle of a storm) I've been "grandfathered" in to the 3G unlimited with up to 5 devices for less than $80/month - not sure if they even offer an unlimited plan any longer and that might be your biggest concern since data usage varies by individual. I use my aircard for home, office and travel and since I'm unlimited I stream netflix with no problem. My home/office is on the outside edge of the reception area (Backasswoods Country) and works fine. If you decide to go wireless you may want to consider getting a signal reading from that carrier at your primary location/locations prior to signing contract. No idea how much faster 4 G is but I'm very satisfied and can't upgrade with current package.
I had 5 phone lines with VZW and after I sold cell tower service company decided to drop to single line. VZW would not let me keep one line without signing a new contract even though I had been with them for 8 years with multiple lines so to make a point I went across the street to a different carrier and of course signed a two year contract. Won't bash that company but it rhymes with skrint and it sucks in my area. No matter how mad I was at VZW for not letting me keep one phone line w/o new contract I still kept the aircard.

Most decent smart phones these days have a wireless hotspot capability. So long as you live in an area serviced by a 4G network, this is easily the best and most cost effective option. The only downside to using a phone hotspot is that when you hit a 3G area, you can either use the phone or the web, not both. An annoyance for sure, but it is nice to be able to upload your photos and scope notes to your server before you even leave a loss without having to carry (or remember) any additional equipment. For a fixed location like an office, hardwired cable is always better and faster.

I have found that in many of the cat areas we work, 4G service is spotty at best. If you are online using a 4G device, you can work online and still use the phone for calls. However, in the areas of 3G or lower level service, you get cut off of the internet when the phone rings. I have a Verizon wireless hot spot, as I usually have two laptops running at any one time. This allows for use of both, from anywhere in the RV or truck, restaurant... etc.

I use an AT&T MiFi hot spot card, up to five users at once, works seamless
