Hello, I recently obtained the 6-20 license in Tampa, Florida. I have a full time job (police officer), but would like a part time gig that will eventually lead to full time work when I retire in a few years. Is there anyone in the area that could assist with any mentorship / internship / guidance I am willing to work without pay if anyone is willing to show me the ropes and help me get started. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you

Career advice 2844 0

Hello, I am a police offcer in the Tampa Bay area. Given my schedule I only work about half of the month so I was seeking a job I could work the remainder of the time AND that would lead to a reliable source of income when I retire from the PD. I was considering getting into this business. My question is simple: Is it realistic to think I can work in thie field either independantly or with a company on a part time basis I have heard of some people locally that do ...

Flying out from Alask for deployments? 2471 0
Started by Sustra90u
Hi, I'm thinking about becoming a CAT adjuster and I have some questions to ask. I'm hoping to move to Alaska. I was thinking that I could fly in for my deployments and rent a car and ladder. I was told that I could likely have most of my expenses paid off from my taxes. Do you think that would actually work Does anyone do anything like that I'm trying to figure out if there is a economical way that makes sense for me to live in Alaska and fly out for deployments.

Expectations for CAT claim adjusting. 2224 0
Started by Sustra90u
Hi, I'm thinking about becopming becoming a CAT adjuster and I'm trying to learn about the industry. I have some questions to ask about correct expectations that I should have about the industry. I was told that the average deployment for CAT claims is 3 to 4 weeks long and I can expect a total profit after all expenses to be $15-$20k on average. Does this seem accurate or not From what I've heard it seems like it can be difficult to get deployed when you have no experiance. On average...

New estimator here 3279 1

Good afternoon gentlemen and women.
For the last two years, I have been working under the supervision of someone who has been hired to write estimates for various Public Adjusters in the Tri-county south Florida area. As of recent I have decided to start my own company and inherit our client list, essentially keeping the above-mentioned man on the payroll as a marketing/ sales guy.
My question is this...what if any licenses do I need to run this business legitimately. I've been...

1st Year Adjuster getting ready... need advice 4913 3
Started by Skirk
Greetings All,
I have invested a lot of time and money into this career switch. I even bought a drone for roof claims. Now I am just wondering what I can expect to earn closing 40 CAT claims per pay period. I decided to get a truck with an rv so that I wont have an direct housing costs but need to plan my finances, namely how much cash on hand (on my card) I should tuck away before deployment. I don't want to get there and a week in have no money for gas and groceries.
I wanted to make a...

Adjusters License Prep- study the textbook vs. online class? 3537 1
Started by James1010
Well I bought and read the textbook 'Florida Adjusters Study Manual 27th Edition' and it was a total waste of time and money. The book is out of date and structured and written for someone pursuing their Insurance Agent/Underwriters license. The incredibly confusing writing style of the author made it impossible to successfully understand the material well enough to pass the 100 test questions in the back of the book. Additionally, everything I'm reading online confirms that the Florida State ex...

I'm about to begin training to become a 6-20 (Florida Resident) Insurance Adjuster, and need some help understanding the best ways to proceed.
I found a lot of info on www.myfloridacfo.com regarding fees, resources, etc., however I have some questions and would appreciate any advise from anyone with experience.
I see that the 2 main options to meet the state pre-licensing requirements are to either; 1.) Take and pass a 40 hour course online or in a classroom ($249-$425 depending on...

Hello, my name is Trever Portier. I am currently and owner of a general construction company located in Wichita, KS. I am interested in learning more about the process becoming an independent insurance adjuster. I am already quite familiar with the entire insurance process but more on the contractor side of things.
I have a couple specific questions about starting an actual company performing IA services across the states. I am curious, for those who are currently IA's traveling from stat...

Trying to get a staff adjusting Job 3612 2
Started by atlsrt44
I'm looking at getting into adjusting and know I need to gain experience. So I acquired my Ga license a few months back and started applying with the big companies.
So far I've had almost 0 success. I've had a couple phone interviews but generally I'm not even to that point.
I currently work for a large telco as a technician so I spend a good bit of my time working aloft, inside attics, crawlspaces etc... so I figured this would be a good switch.
I have a bachelors in business and...

What line(s) of work are similar to adjusting? 3018 3

I had a fellow IA ask me the other day what lines of work are similar to adjusting as he is thinking about how to get out of this business. I scratched my head and really didn't have an answer for him other than anything with customer service and analytical skills. Now that I've had time to sit on it, I am driving myself nutty wondering what would I do if I wasn't doing this. What would any of you suggest to someone wanting to leave this profession

I spent 15 years in Emergency Services and it took a toll on my body. Tore up my knees and my back really bad. I've had a rough few years getting my body back together. Gentlemen, my name is Isaac and have a few questions for you guys: Where and how did you all get your start I used to be in roofing sales and liked the work but I'm not a salesman therefore I didn't excel in that field. If a guy didn't want a new roof no matter how badly it was damaged then he didn't want a new roof and that was that. I got to know several adjusters pretty well but that was about five years ago and I've since lost contact with them. I'm 31 years old and ha...
