CA U.S. District Court says Katrina storm surge .. 3898 5

is not excluded by excess policy's flood exclusion.
In the Insurance Coverage Law Blog (located here), the author David Rossmiller reviews the August 16 decision in Northrop Grumman v. Factory Mutual Ins. Co., lawsuit.
It appears that the decision was at least in part based on the lack of the phrase "whether driven by wind or not,"
Some good reading if you get a chance check it out.

Whats the value of the NFIP certification. I am attending a certification class next month. I have been a staff adjuster since 2001 but have entered the cat end last year. I have heard different opinion regarding needing or not needing the certification. How about some input from some of you folks that have been doing this for a while. Assuming a competent adjuster, will the certification give someone more assigments, more $$$, more value I am getting the cert regardless, but was just wanting i...

RESTORING FLOOD DAMAGED CONTENTS 6571 18
Started by Neil G
Has anyone ever used a restoration company that had the Esporta Wash System for restoring smoke and flood damaged contents
It can restore 85 of the contents that are currently being thrown out. Insurance adjusters have been quoted saying that it "saves the insurance industry thousands of dollars per loss. It's incredible!"
What are your thoughts

Flood Insurance Claim Handbook Revised 11/06 5327 0
Started by KLS
NFIP has changed the wording in the final section of the F-687 Flood Insurance Claim Handbook regarding "Addressing Questions About Your Insurance Claim" (Appeals). The old 07/05 Handbook is no longer useable. This Handbook is to be given to every Insured by their agent on policy renewal and by the adjuster upon initial inspection contact.

NFIP Classes are Filling Up 4550 5
Started by johnpostava
One of my contacts at NFIP tells me the 2007 NFIP certification classes are filling up. For those of you who qualify for certification next year it would be a good move to send in your registration early so you get the class and location of your choice.
If you are attending the 2007 NACA convention in Fort Worth in January, a representative from NFIP will be holding a certification class for all paid attendees.
