2 Replies and 3218 Views World Claim  3218  2 Started by  mahively I have been contacted by World Claim to go overseas to work as a 'public adjuster' for them. I have not run across them and am looking for any feedback anyone might have on them. I have many, many questions about working overseas obviously so I am not going to jump into this blindly but would like to find someone that has worked with them previously. Thanks, Mark

3 Replies and 2422 Views Any Electronics Restoration Company you use as a go-to vendor?  2422  3 Started by  SageBear I would like some input from the property adjusters of all levels, particularly in California. Is there a go-to Electronics Restoration/Decontamination/Data Recovery Company that you use on a normal basis How often do you use or need this vendor based upon your caseload What is the associated cost for an inspection and how far are they willing to travel to inspect damaged electronics How would you rate their service and would you be interested in a better quality and more efficient vendor fo...

10 Replies and 4448 Views CADO Coinsurance calculator  4448  10 Started by  Leland I was checking out the coinsurance calculator available here on CADO and I would like to make  some suggestions to make it better. First of all I would like to say thanks to Roy for this website and secondly, thanks to whoever started the coinsurance calculator (if it wasn't Roy himself). 1) The words 'Coinsurance Penalty' should be changed to say 'Percentage compensable' or 'Coinsurance percentage compensable'. If the amount getting paid after applying coinsurance is 81, then .81 is not ...

10 Replies and 3467 Views Hurricane Isaac now projected to become a major hurricane (CAT3)  3467  10 Started by  CatAdjusterX Hey folks, all I can say is wow! Hurricane Isaac is tracking to the extreme west and as such will spend that much more time over the 88/90 degree waters of the Gulf of Mexico. With that, a CAT 3 is now a realistic possibility and landfall is expected somewhere near the mouth of the Mississippi river. Those of us who remember Katrina (how could we ever forget) knows that brings the Mississippi Gulf River Outlet into play. This system of levees will funnel all that storm surge right up ...

4 Replies and 9698 Views Xactimate prices below labor/material cost - help  9698  4 Started by  Anhonestroofer We primarily work insurance claims but not at this particular office location. However, a storm recently came through and the Xactimate numbers are coming back lower than our cost. Ultimately we want to make the homeowner happy and close the file. Generally, Xactware has fair prices that leave enough profit to cover all costs associated with the job while maintaining a decent profit margin. This time is different. Based on experience, can anyone shed some light on how this could be resol...

33 Replies and 8323 Views You receive a commercial claim assignment  8323  33 Started by  HuskerCat
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
This question is posed to you by an independent inside claims consultant.  I've been in your shoes as a field adjuster, both staff and independent. You are an IA, and a new assignment comes in via Xact from your IA firm.  You know who the carrier is and may have worked previously for them, but it has been directly assigned to your IA firm by the carrier's call center before all coverage information is confirmed or is provided by the carrier's inside examiner. This is a commercial los...

8 Replies and 3889 Views recycling shingles to use on another slope  3889  8 Started by  Leland An attorney I know sent me a copy of an Xactimate estimate from a major insurance carrier. The estimate calls for replacing a couple of slopes on the dwelling  and reusing some of those shingles on a detached structure, so the detached structure can have a uniform appearance. This idea was surprising to both of us. I have never heard of removing old asphalt comp shingles and reusing them. Am I missing something Anybody hear of this before Is it considered acceptable in the roofing trad...

1 Replies and 3230 Views Flat fee schedule  3230  1 Started by  margar1 Well it has been a few years since I visirted this site and even longer since I posted. It has been interesting  to read some of the threads and it seems that the more things change the more they seem to stay the same. I have a question regarding fee schedules at a flat rate. Between Cat events I work some daily claims for a few companies. I am based out of Paducah,Ky and it seems most of my volume comes from Nashville,Tn. with most of the claims being commercial. My commercial claims...

17 Replies and 4257 Views The ten rules of adjusting  4257  17 Started by  olderthendirt Can we set a group of ten simple rules (the ten commandments if you will) based on common sense (if it was common why is it so rare). 14 Replies and 6118 Views Subrogation or Contribution  6118  14 Started by  Medulus I recently had occasion to assist in helping my fiancee get fully indemnified for a claim in which two insurance carriers were involved.  I won't say who the two carriers were, but suffice it to say that one of them trained me much more proficiently than the person I was dealing with at that company.   I believe the person they were using as their adjuster was an independent, and probably a catadjuster.  I never got a straight answer on that.  I wasn't able to ...

3 Replies and 3109 Views Tallahassee FL  3109  3 Started by  flboy0638 I have a few questions.  First off let me say I have a good job & I am not looking to take anyones work but I am more so planning for a rainy day in case something happens with my current job.  I work in IT for a phone company.  I am a certified Florida Insurance adjustor and I would not mind going on a couple of jobs with a seasoned adjustor in Tallahassee.  If this is too much of a burden we can talk compensation.  I would pay  you or even work for free for ex...

4 Replies and 3479 Views Reciprocity  3479  4 Started by  chadecoen I realize I may be rehashing some common knowledge to experienced claims professionals but to knew doods like me I think sum clarification is in order especially as it pertains to auto adjusters. For years I have received a 1099 and w2. 2011 my firm has given out straight W2 and not checked statutory employee box.  I have always taken my deductions on schedule C as I am an IA.  I have called friend who work for other large firm and they also received W2.
