Funny Adjuster Resignation Letter 11236 13
Started by barryk
Hey I'm looking for anyone out there that can send me a copy of a funny adjuster resignation letter that I saw back in the early 90's.&160; I also saw this same resignation letter on a plaque hung on an adjusters wall a few years later.
It's a pretty funny letter about our profession and the skills needed to be good at it.&160; It says&160;we need to know the pricing of everything from a sewing pin to a nuclear control panel, must be honest , witty and a mind reader and have the ability to d...

With 2 -&160; 5 EQ's in the mid-west and another in CA the other day, sure sounds like something MAY happen. Perhaps we will see a few years of work

Civil Authority Ordered Evacuation 2629 1
Started by Ray Hall
This was a hot topic in 2005 after Hurricane Rita. I made a post in the fall of 2005 on this topic and it died on the vine. This could be the next hot button in 2008 as thousands of people who live in low areas that could have sea water flooding are the first to pack the car and flee about 72-48 hours before expected landfall.
I only know of one carrier that will reimburse the policy holder for reasonable expense. It seems their policy has language that covers some expenses under some condition...

Here is a quote from a article I read today about a recent hail storm in Hannibal, IL.
'There's some good news out of the hail storm in Hannibal this week.
Hotels in town are seeing a surge of insurance adjusters.
The good news comes in because the adjusters will be in town for about 30 days.
That means they'll also eat and shop in America's Hometown.
It's even better news for the Hannibal Inn and Conference Center because it recently opened under new management.
'This helps our hotel in...

CADO Down Time 2908 5
Started by host
Hi,
Sorry for the&160;down time&160;we have had the last couple of days.&160; The good news is that CADO is back up. The bad news is that we had to use the&160;5/12/2008 backup to restore the database. That means any activity after midnight on the 11th has been over written.&160; So if you registered for an account or posted anything anywhere on the site after that time it was lost. The site for the most part was down on the 13th and 14th.
Again I'm sorry the trouble.

Another Blow to Professional Adjusting 9349 30

Xactware and ServiceMaster have teamed up to offer insurance carriers a contents estimating service.&160; Now the carriers are using restoration contractors to handle contents claims.&160; Pretty soon there will be nothing for property adjusters to do except review and pay contractor invoices.&160; Seems to me the ServiceMaster estimator is practicing adjusting if he starts valuing inventories and settling claims with insureds and would need a license in most states to be able to do so.&160;...

The second largest insurance carrier in Canada has launched a new campaign aimed at humanizing the insureds perception of their company and the industry at large. Part of their campaign is a full refund of your premium if you are unhappy with the way your claim was handled. What's next air miles on top of the refund. I can see it now, who will end up bearing the brunt of such foolishness The adjuster or claims rep. Thought you had to bend over backwards before

Know your policy 9209 37

Janice and I worked a commercial loss last week and submitted it for payment 4 days after assignment, through a vendor with a major carrier. This was a lightning damage claim to a 5 ton outside A/C unit and a neon lettered sign affixed to the front gable end of a large restaurant. It was an ACV policy with adequate limits of insurance. There was no question of it being lightning and not surge. The A/C had heavy arcing a burning of electrical wire and components, as did the sign. They were both o...
