Greetings to everyone from Oaxaca, Mexico, where Jennifer and I are taking a break from our last assignment and staying far away from the demonstrations taking place across town. I guess I'm reviving this thread from a similar thread now located in the archives.  For those of you old enough to remember Laugh In, you may remember 'The Fickle Finger of Fate' award.  When I was in seminary I used to read The Wittenburg Door, a sort of Mad magazine for theologians.  They used to awar...

4 Replies and 2934 Views Insurance Coverage, requires lots of reading & discussion  2934  4 Started by  Ray Hall Many of the company trained adjusters, began a class in coverage during their first weeks of employment. The first policy was the family automobile coverage for casualty adjusters. I was fortunate enough to work for a large company with all the underwriters under one roof and the underwriters taught the coverage. I loved contract law and insurance policys are the contract to the policyholder of what is covered, what is not covered, limitations on amounts of insurance, and extensions of insuranc...

15 Replies and 3417 Views Brokeres see adjusters as Key Players  3417  15 Started by  cowboy26995 The following article is interesting in noting the role adjusters play in brokers retention of their client base. If adjusters are seen as key allies in maintaining the brokers book of business maybe the brokerage community could serve as allies in the adjusters struggle against some of the unfair practices instituted by some vendors and carriers. We all need to be happy campers to focus on delivering the level of service the insured is fully entitled to recieve. As we are the focal point in the...

6 Replies and 2775 Views Contents SF Calculator  2775  6 Started by  liljon I have an interesting case with&160;an excessive amount&160;&160;of contents that&160;were destroyed in an under&160;300 sf foot room. &160;Is there a SF calculator out there somewhere that shows a average value for contents. I was wondering if there was one used in Katrina for fast track NFIP settlements. I know contents and pricing is extremely diverse and there could not be a one fits all calc. Just looking to be able to add some common sense to the discussion. Thanks!!!

Very interesting article wherein critics of Citizens stipulate it is woefully undercapitalized to pay claims from a major storm. We all know where adjusters stand in the priority of payment list. What guarantees are vendors getting from Citizens for payment Do you want to take a chanceThere should be ironclad guarantees in place before deploying or else http://www.propertyandcasualtyinsurancenews.com/cms/nupc/BreakingNews/2008/06/02-FLAH-ap &160;

As&160;we approach another season,&160;the cost of fuel leaps out as an expense that could be the difference in making a living&160;or just working under the law of diminishing returns.&160;Most of us have not worked a major storm since Katrina. Having to&160;commute long distances then was bad enough with $3 gas, Consider what&160;it will cost if a Cat hits the Gulf again. Where will we see fuel prices this time&160;$5 to $6 or higher&160;With diesel&160;running close to $5 where w...

7 Replies and 2705 Views Liability Claim Releases  2705  7 Started by  Ray Hall Many of us have worked are still work liability claims on a regular basis. This was a new experience for me. I have been working CGL claims for one carrier for about 2 years who have their own release. 'It is expressly understood and agreed that each of the parties hereto, their heirs, successors, attorneys and assigns, will keep c...

2 Replies and 2361 Views Steel Price Increases  2361  2 Started by  Tom Toll I have been informed from several&160; steel&160; clad providers that there will be an increase in steel as follows. 10 increase on June 14, an additional increase on July 16, and possible increases from that in about 4 months. Seems China has not gotten enough of our money , so they are asking for more. This, of course will increase premiums on commercial policies and&160; possibly&160; HO policies. Seems to never end, however, I just heard Prez Bush say the economy is stabilizing, so we ...
