11 Replies and 16004 Views Working Allstate claims vs State Farm  16004  11 Started by  hcrisp8 I have applied with Pilot, but they have told me I can go through their training for Allstate, even though all my cat experience has been for State Farm. (about 8 years total, 4 years cat)  I know nothing about working claims for Allstate, and was just looking for some info on how they differ from State Farm.  I have been using Xm8 since 1997, so I wonder if the switch for Allstate to Xm8 is part of the reason they want me for Allstate.  Thanks in advance..

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I was just working on a contents spreadsheet and was wondering if anyone ever ran across First Day Covers. &160; A lot of policies exclude 'stamps' but a First Day Cover is an envelope with a stamp on the first day it was issued. They are collected by Philatelists just like stamps but they aren't&160; technically&160; 'stamps'. What do you folks think Should be excluded just like stamps Or paid for &160; Any other examples of similar things, where a slight difference in what someth...

3 Replies and 2290 Views specialty trades for repairing personal property  2290  3 Started by  Leland The LA Times has a series of articles on 'experts of repair and keepers of dying trades' such as silversmiths, rug repairers, furniture repair etc. The silversmith article  discusses restoration of an antique creamer that was run over by a truck. It is surprising how many things can be fixed but I often have a hard time finding someone when I need it. Since I do more DP policies I am more likely to need restoration/salvage of antique items.   http://www.latimes...

14 Replies and 3914 Views Technology  3914  14 Started by  JayJ I see a lot of posts on here praising or complaining about the increased reliance on technology. Many people have serious concerns about services like Eagle View, Pictometry, Geo-Estimators, taking their jobs.Let me say I'm a new adjuster ( 2 years) and the only thing I've adjusted since my licensing, is my expectations. I am however very experienced in roofing, 32 years licensed in Minnesota and certified Florida. I have worked as a production manager for 2 national roofing companies,&160; a...

4 Replies and 2564 Views Hail damage question  2564  4 Started by  suzukini Can someone please explain to me what 'shadow hits' are when calling hail damage   I am an IA with 2 years experience, a newby to many, but feel that I know what a hail hit is compared to normal aging/wear & tear, blistering, etc.  I inspected a house and found what I considered to be minimal damage (3 hits per SQ on right slopes, aging and normal granule loss on the front and back slopes, nothing on the left) and called for repair.  Insd complained and got a reinspectio...

An Allstate staff friend of mine confirmed to me yesterday that she was being trained in Xactimate over the next couple of weeks and that Allstate is leaving MSB/integ for XM8.  I wonder if this is going to be a gradual conversion to xm8, or if it will be a msb one day, the next day xm8 situation. However, I can't imagine it's gonna be an easy switch for this giant company. I also imagine there may be additional work opportunities with them if a lot of these guys can't 'get it'.  I thi...

The policy is a HO-3 You worked both losses and used xmate. Both were full assignments. The carrier notified you to work the total loss from tornado, but do not travel to the site only thing left is a slab. Inured on a rocket to the space station and will not be back for 20 days. Yes I know I could would be my answer.

As April Fool's Day draws near, Allstate Insurance gathered together some strange tales of insurance claims to show what a strange world it can be, but also to demonstrate that people can suffer from damages or losses from truly unexpected circumstances...
