I left part of my car in the photo for comparison. That's the front end of my adjustermobile, a 1992 Mercedes station wagon with 247,000 miles, still runs great but burns a bit of oil. Lots of room for a ladder inside.

I think the winds in this area hit gusts over 100 mph, based on lower speeds recorded in flat areas a few miles away.

View from my last inspection on Sunday before the sun went down. From a 3 story Victorian looking at downtown LA.

I'm always taking photos of interesting construction details, maybe one day I will build my own house and copy other people's ideas. Check out this outdoor floor tile pattern I have never seen before or since. Anybody else do this?

On the right side, Minnesota Fats wearing a monacle, a Smoky the Bear Hat, and holding a cigar. Or, it could be Roseanne Barr.

I also like to take pictures of California freeways. Here is a spot I always get stuck at when I come back to LA from the valley area.

    leland,

How big is the damage? Are you replacing many roofs?

This reminds me of manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo beach areas.

Here is a car I saw last night, obviously a tree fell on it. I have about 25 wind claims on top of my regular work load, so we are busy  but new claims have slowed down, only getting some roof leaks now because we just had heavy rain for 2 days.

Probably about a half dozen full roof replacements, more repairs than full replacements. Lots of trees leaning on buildings, I had at least 10 claims with trees hitting the building.

P.S. Jerry, I like the way you wear a jacket and tie for your picture. It looks professional. In my opinion it reflects badly on a cat adjuster to have a photo taken in a bar, with a spouse, etc. Maybe those adjuster's don't want work so they don't mind. Some of the photos look like mug shots. I googled one adjuster on this site and found the actual mug shot.

Speaking of jacket & tie, it now dawns on me that image on the right side of the tree trunk is Oliver Hardy with his hat tilted....still wearing a monacle and holding a cigar, but minus the bow tie and mustache.

Some old LA buildings have these interesting round rooms on 2nd floor corners but most fell down during earthquakes years ago. They were much more common years ago. If you look at old pictures of some buildings you can see them on buildings that no longer have them. For those of you who don't work in Calif. the little metal squares on the top of the wall are reinforcements for earthquake resistance. I think I will keep posting photos that I think are interesting until somebody says to stop.....

OK Mike, does this look like your claims manager?  To me, its an average sign in LA. Can you estimate it in Xactimate?
