I have a vendor who wants a sample estimate written on xactimate 25 . I currently have 27 loaded on my PC.
Can I have 25 loaded if I leave 27 on my computer or will it corrupt .

Why would a vendor EVER hire an unknown  adjuster without looking at one or more closed files. I would never hire any adjuster until I looked at about 10 files hand picked over several years or several months. I would also like to see some full report captioned reports with a POL completed and all the other requirements.

The first answer is THEY need names and SS#; they can chase you off before the worms can complete the first day assignments (3-30) or the adjusters with 10 years experience(a few claim some years spread over 10 years) .More vendors and adjusters will be named in 2011 lawsuits. The lawyers have the Texas , Florida template. 2010 will be the flush out year for wannabees.

    Jerry,
When we needed v-27 to write a few estimates but had v-25 on the computer already, they told me that we could keep one or the other, so we ended up putting 27 on a second computer.  If you have a second computer, I'd add it to the second one.

    Good Luck!

Xactware does provide a dual license that will allow you run both version on the same computer. But just for sample it may not be worth it. The dual license is needed if you work with a lot of different clients on different versions of Xactimate. But if you compare the printed version you will not see any difference.

Jerry, I don't know if this helps or not but in July I was working water backup claims in Wisconsin with American Family. I had 27 on my computer and they required 25. Since I was paid up for the next three months, Xactimate suspended the 27 and allowed me to load the 25 without the necessity of the dual license. I think this only works when you are retrograding and not upgrading. By the way, I have been told that if 27 opens a claim file that it can never be opened by 25 again. Don't know if this is true or not.

That's true, most software is backward compatible, a newer version can open a older version but in most cases a older version will not be able to open a newer version, i.e. 25 cannot open version 27 estimates.

    Thanks Meg,
I put it on a 2nd computer. I then somehow got sent 25 on both computers so I tried to load it onto my lap top where I had 27. There was a message that it could not be used until I deleted 27 off my lap top. This is just for everyone's information so they don't waste time when one or the other is needed. I am doing this w/ their demo versions as I am currently not deployed and paying for the active version. .

    Hey Jerry,

That's why we put it on a second computer.  They told me that if we loaded 27 on the computer with the 25 that we would loose some things on 25, and since 25 is mostly what we use we opted to purchase 1 month of 27 and put it on the second computer.  That way nothing on the computer with 25 was changed.
Always sort of makes me nervous to change something when it's working fine, and I like the "KISS" method!!  :)

I did the same thing last week. I am working daily claims for a company that uses 25, but I also wanted to have 27 on my computer for later on. I upgraded to the dual license, loaded the 25/27 programs on my laptop, and voila! All my 25 claims are gone because of the 27 being on my laptop. Xact support said I had to downgrade to 25 to get my claims again. I lost all of my closed claims and had to have the vendor resend all open claims again after deleting all Xact and starting over again. Nightmare....
