My name is Justin, I am currently trying to get into the field of adjusting. I have been a foreman in construction for the last 5 years. I love being out in the field. Due to the economy I have had to switch jobs. I now sell cars, even though it is not the best time for that. I work in Mobile, Alabama. In the time I have sold cars, I have met many adjusters. Considering Pilot has a Mobile, Alabama office. I am trying to slowly work towards becoming an adjuster on the side. I dont plan on being an instant success story. I know it takes time and hard work. I just received my florida all lines license. I need to know what certifications look better to companies in order to get seen. I need to know what companies are out there to apply to. I also have an Idea about field cat adjusters, but do not know how to get a job working from an office. For instance I have met some in house pilot adjusters. I have done plenty of construction estimating, just not with xactimate. Any positive input would be appreciated. I know some people on here seem to hate newbies, but I just want to know what I can work on to increase my chances in the future. Thanks, Justin

Positive feedback. Talked with a friend of a friend in pilot human resources today. They said the best shot at getting called is getting certified for allstate claims and state farm. I do not tend to hear the opinion of unhappy people. I really dont. That is one of the down falls of the internet. I have met success stories. I am the type of person that thinks if you are not successful that is usually your own fault.

Ask Pilot to get you certified with Allstate and State Farm and you will be on our way if another Katrina hits.

Don't get us oldtimers wrong. We do though encourage those new out there to do a gut check in reality. This is a tough business. It costs money and time to get into. It takes you away from family and friends. It's definitely not for everyone. It's erratic. You suffer from droughts of no work. But, going through Pilot can be good. They have been good to me for many years. Listen to Ray and Chuck, they know. If you are smart, can listen and absorb, are adaptable, are willing to do what it takes and can manage to control your appetites, there is great potential in this field. If you are the type of person who suceeds in everything he does, this just might be the field for you.
