All of us need to send Steve Ebner our prayers and condolences for the recent passing of his lovely wife, Jennifer. Jennifer suffered a perforated colon and was in the hospital for several days. Below is an e-mail sent to me from Meg. I am so sorry this has happened to Steve. Both were such a wonderful and loving couple.

Steve, if you read this, if there is anything that I can do or any of us, please let us know.

    Everyone,

To those of you who have been supporting us in prayer during the last two days, those who we had not gotten a chance to inform yet, and those who have known my wife, Jennifer Meriwether personally or through my talking about her.....

On Sunday night  I rushed Jennifer to the hospital due to abdominal cramping.  Before the night was out, it was determined that she had a perforated colon and she was taken into surgery.  The last two days have been a roller coaster up and down as she fought the septic shock.

The final result, I am unimaginably sad to say, is that Jennifer died Tuesday evening at 10:30.  This was totally unexpected and comes as a great shock to us.  Her daughter, Amber, her parents Jim and Claire, and I are hoping that we can get through this night as the reality of this sinks in.  Should we be able to get to sleep, we expect to sleep in.  So we will ask that no one call us Wednesday morning while we try to sleep.

    Steve Ebner

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

    Our prayers are with you
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers.

Thank you for your expressions of concern. This was very unexpected. Jennifer was only 48 years old and she was dead within two days of the first onset of any symptoms. I never expected to have to go through this, and was sure she would outlive me by many years. We were adventurers together, and she was always full of life, often more life than I could keep up with.

I probably won't be back on the forums for a few days, but wanted to acknowledge the good wishes so many have expressed on this page and in private messages. As for what her desires were, she always said she wanted people to party with her when she died. So, the next time you grab your favorite brew (if you're in recovery, make it a diet coke or a monster), drink one for Jennifer -- and then take a cab home or wait an extra hour before you drive home.

May she rest in peace and may God comfort her loved ones.

What an unexpected thing to happen, my friend.  It seems we just spoke on the phone a few days ago, but as I look back at my phone log it was 9/17.  Time passes faster than we realize...and we need to cherish every moment we have with those we love.  Know that we are all feeling your loss and keeping you in our prayers.  Even though we've never met face to face, we have connected over the phone and over the forums sharing info and giving each other a really bad time.  Knowing your history and your faith in God, I know you'll get through this.  You have friends here too.
