I have an  a possible asistant to climb roofs w/ me and I was wondering if there is anyplace where I might find roof formulas i could show him so he will be able to learn how to estimate a roof. Any help for this would be greatly appreciated.

There are probably many websites which have what you need, but a book "What's What of Wind and Hail" published by Eberls has a 10 page section on roof measurement with lots of diagrams.  https://www.eberls.com/
