I am new and here in Houston getting ready to do my first claims. I have been doing a ton of reading and question asking here on the forum and the one thing that I have read over and over is that there is a right way and wrong way to do a professional claim. Would anybody post a copy of a claim done the correct way so that I may along with many others have a template to work off of, I want to offer a professional product and this would be a great help.

    Thanks,
    Jason

    Jason,

What you are asking may seem simple, Jason, but for at least two reasons, it is not.

    1. Any claim posted that was handled in a professional manner would include much that is individual to the claim being addressed. The worst way to handle claims is to assume that they are all the same or similar.

    2. There are confidentiality issues. For anyone to post such a claim would require redacting the claim to remove all identifying information. To post a claim which can be identified could constitute bad faith.

In addition, in the past there have been unscrupulous hucksters who take photos of one roof and keep submitting them over and over rather than actually seeing the claims. Surely there have been people who also submit the same estimates over and over. I, for one, would not like to be the one who supplied a report someone else could use for fraudulent purposes. Posting one of my reports in a public way could easily expose the report to that kind of abuse.

Jason, If you are working for a claims company ask you supervisor for a sample copy of a claim to use for a guideline as to how they want the addressed. Every company is different, carriers are different and supervisiors are different. Much of what will impact your claims is your file reviewer.

The firm I work with supplies all of our adjusters a "guideline" in their storm package. Make sure you are working for a firm who is set up to work with new adjusters. Some firms will let you sink out there our your own, others do have people to mentor you, with this type of serive you fee is cut and part goes to your mentor.

Thank you for your replys, I assumed that someone would clear all personal information and such however I think you are correct it is best to ask a supervisor for a copy that shows exactly what they expect. I has never even had the thought in my mind to use the wrong pictures and reuse the same claim over and over. Just goes to show that it takes all kinds.

    Thanks again,
    Jason

    Jason Dude,

You should have received a "SAMPLE CLAIM STACK" in your JIT Meeting. As mentioned Ask your Immediate supervisor for this Claim Stack, and a sample estimate Stack to ensure you have the proper paperwork as required by the carrier you are working for.

Lastly, I LOOK for claims that appear to be duplicate, Each and every claim is diffrent.
