I believe that anyone can conquer fear by doing the things he fears to do, provided he keeps doing them until he gets a record of successful experiences behind him.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.

Patience and perseverance is a mighty virtue all adjusters really need to have, particularly when working with vendors and companies. Be deliberate and concise with everything you do in this business and communicate, communicate, communicate.

No matter how small and unimportant what we are doing may seem, if we do it well, it may soon become the step that will lead us to better things.

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.  The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

The key that unlocks energy is desire.  It's also the key to a long and interesting life.  If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited.

A goal is not the same as a desire, and this is an important distinction to make.  You can have a desire you don't intend to act on.  But you can't have a goal you don't intend to act on.

If you want happiness for an hour - take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day - go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year - inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime - help someone else.

Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore Because the word "God" is mentioned, A kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer.

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our ******s and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen

"Saying it Differently"

One day, there was a blind man sitting on the steps
of a building with a hat by his feet and a sign that
read: "I am blind, please help.''

A creative publicist was walking by and stopped to
observe. He saw that the blind man had only a few
coins in his hat. He dropped in more coins and,
without asking for permission, took the sign and
rewrote it.

He returned the sign to the blind man and left.

That afternoon the publicist returned to the blind man
and noticed that his hat was full of bills and coins.
The blind man recognized his footsteps and asked if it
was he who had rewritten his sign and wanted to know
what he had written on it.

The publicist responded: "Nothing that was not true.
I just wrote the message a little differently."

He smiled and went on his way.

The new sign read: "Today is Spring and I cannot
see it."

Sometimes we need to change our strategy.
If we always do what we've always done,
we'll always get what we've always gotten.

And remember too, sometimes it's not WHAT we say,
it's HOW we say it.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Take time to accept responsibility.  Your life is exactly that - It's your life.  It is created by you.  You are constantly making choices, constantly creating new experiences.  We can be affected by circumstances which can seem to be completely out of our control, but we do have control over  our circumstances.   Essentially, we decide the direction in which we walk.

What we ponder and what we think about sets the course of our life. Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day we wish, we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day we wish, we can start a new activity. Any day we wish, we can start the process of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year. We can also choose to be condescending, selfish, and critical of others, which creates or constructs nothing positive.

We can also do nothing. We can pretend rather than perform. And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we are. We can choose rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over truth, and doubt over confidence. The choices are ours to make. But while we curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause. We create our circumstances by our past choices. We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today.
Knowledge is infinite, as is growth to know ones self. Each day has its own opening and possibility. Grow to what you can be and want to be. Become an adjuster that many will envy and encourage others to follow suit. Learn, teach, nurture others, and mentor those who truly wish to learn, regardless of experience.

Tom, I don't know what has gripped me lately, perhaps the fear of my current small business woes, but I have become consumed with learning all things cat'. In my exhaustive and near obsessive research I found myself spending a couple hours here looking for how to enter this field...I stumbled upon this gem, your quote above, and it very much parallels the path I have been on for some time...If this is the metal you cats (pun not intended) are made of God has led me in the right direction...A sign?...I don't know, but here I am. This is my first post.

My name is Jason and I am here to learn.

The Two Wolves Within

An old Cherokee told his grandson
‘Two wolves rage within us,

One is Evil, it has many names:
Anger, envy, jealousy,
Sorrow, regret, greed,
Arrogance, self-pity, guilt,
Resentment, inferiority, lies,
False-pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good, it has many hues:
Joy, peace, love, hope,
Serenity, humility, kindness,
Benevolence, empathy, generosity,
Truth, compassion and faith.’

The grandson thought for a minute
And asked: ‘Which Wolf wins?’
The Cherokee simply replied:
‘The one you feed!’

Seek first the Kingdom of God and all things your heart desires will be yours.

To thine own self be true.

Two of the things I have learned is, that you are as powerful and strong as you allow yourself to be, and that the most difficult part of any endeavor is taking the first step, making the first decision.

Believe while others are doubting.

Plan while others are playing.

Study while others are sleeping.

Decide while others are delaying.

Prepare while others are daydreaming.

Begin while others are procrastinating.

Work while others are wishing.

Save while others are wasting.

Listen while others are talking.

Smile while others are frowning.

Commend while others are criticizing.

Persist while others are quitting.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Never giving up and pushing forward will unlock all the potential we are capable of. Even though the year 2006 was mostly uneventful, plan ahead for 2007 and make the most of it. All people have potential to be what they really want to be, just do it.

The only opinion about your dream that really counts is yours. The negative comments of others merely reflect their limitations - not yours.

Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you'll help them to become what they are capable of becoming.
