WOW,

That was pretty fast !!!
The first insurance payout was just recorded, a 400 million + insurance payment was just received, who was that payment made too ? TRANSOCEAN for the loss of the rig .
This is sarcasm by the way , Olegred
I am fairly sure the 11 Roughnecks that were lost , they're families won't see anything anytime soon !!

Good evening to our friend, Mr Cook. Aahh, yes, the P.A. I would think the P.A. will be the wild card in this poker game. If the lawyers can organize, so should the P.A.'s so as to present a united front and a uniform presentation of the claim. Since many minds working together can dream up lots more scenarios for compensation, a truly wonderous and VERY time consuming response from the BP boys will run up the daily rate in terms of increased time spent winnowing thru the mucky file presented.

Yep! An encyclopedia thick claim file from the P.A. boys will stretch out the days for a longer lasting pay period for the hired independents. That's a good thing.

"It really is a catastrophe," Simmons said. "I don't think they're going to be able to put the leak out until the reservoir depletes. It's just too technically challenging."

He said BP's cleanup costs could ruin the company.

"They're going to have to clean up the Gulf of Mexico," he said.

If that reservoir depletes, that's 52 million barrels !!

Ghost, thanks for the post. You are capable of producing some useful info, not just pure bile, that is very encouraging sign. We will be friends, I know. As for your very valuable advise of sticking to the roof claims, I would gladly follow it if I only I could be sure that the work would be there. I am trying to get into some specialty adjusting, to make sure I have some knowledge that would make me more marketable. As for all of you keeping to point at my lack of experience, I say I will not sit and wait. Never. I will be knocking on the doors. Yeah, you have experience, but I have persistence and brains. I am not sure what's more important. I hope things work out for you and me and we get a piece of this oil action.

Just a minor point, the 52 million barrel capacity of the reservoir is estimated. Possibly the capacity is 100 times that.

Olegred, my friend, would it be that each of us knew work would be there always. There in lies the beautiful mystery of our lives as storm troopers. The ancient adage rings true time and time again; 'We don't know when we will work, where we will work, how long any work will last, how much money we will spend or make, only that someday, somehow, somewhere we will work again, maybe.'

Job security is for those souls who daily get up, put on a neck tie, drive to the office, stir the files, and go home that afternoon to get up the next day to do it all over again. Provided the company doesn't lay them off from outsourcing their job to India.

Storm trooping is not for the faint of heart.

If that is the case, it's not a bad thing, it's APOCALYPTIC !!!!!

And maybe the reservoir capacity is 1/2 the 52 million estimated barrels, my point is that to my knowledge 52 million barrels is a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess)

If this gets into the loop current there will be major problems.

The currents caused by the spring flow of the Mississippi will move the oil into the Gulf loop current and the loop current will take the oil to the Gulf stream. If the leak continues and it will, there will not be enough money in the world to pay for the needed clean up. I'm just sayin'.

ok.... they try to stop oil but in vain... comes July, LA thru FL shore is bathing with oil, dead fish and birds everywhere, oil is picked by gulf stream and spread along coast line up to New York, all the beaches are closed. Here comes a first hurricane, picks up the oil and dumps it along the way on 14 states, everybodys white siding becomes browninsh....

By then BP has gone belly up and the federal government is handling the claims.

And as long as the certified HAZWOPER cleanup crews are still getting paid, I'll be whistling a happy tune!

I wrote about that possibility on my site and I would imagine the storm surge over and above it's destructive power would be broadened 10 fold if that surge is contaminated.
Now you got the surface water of the gulf being picked up and inundating almost every structure hundreds of miles inland.
If that happens , I would guess the HAZWOPER40 certification could be mandatory for any of us to work those hurricane and wind claims since the risks are coated in a film .

Any thoughts on that scenario ?

If it's even close to the 52 million barrels talked about, with each barrel containing 42 US gallons of unrefined crude, that equates to 2.2 BILLION gallons if that reservoir depletes

Last night, on TV, a talking head said that according to his calculations the flow is closer to 70,000 gallons a day than it is to 5,000 gallons a day. I have not seen any thoughts as to how many barrels the reservoir might hold and how that figure was calculated.
