    Hi,

A friend recently sent me a link to a CPA website and on their website they provide some newsletters on subjects that may be of interest to those handling BI claims.

    Newsletter subjects;

    • Sales Projection
    • Cost of Sales & Gross Profit
    • Expenses & Net Income
    • Continuing & Non-continuing Expenses
    • Loss of Income Calculation
    • Extra Expense

You can find the newsletters here> http://www.sanderfordcpa.com/

    Thanks for the tip Harry

I worked with this firm during the 04, 05 season of events and found them to be very knowledgable and professional. They were one of the preferred vendors of the Company I was working for. They were always available to answer questions and helped resolve many complex issues pertaining to BI. I would suggest you subscribe to their newletter if you do any BI calculations.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Roy and Tom, you are right, I received the newsletters and they are informative for BI and LOU.

If I may? I also use these websites for BI and additional information:

    Insurance Information Institute (www.iii.com)
    American Insurance Association (www.aiadc.org/AIAdotNet/)
    International Risk Management Institute (www.irmi.com/)

If, anyone wants to use an excel (spreadsheet) calculator for Business Interruption?
You can download 6 helpful templates from:

Gen Re - is one of the largest reinsurers worldwide and a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.(www.genre.com/page/0,,ref=BICalculatorDetails-en,00.html).
    or
    Zurich - North America (www.zurichna.com/zus/onlineservices.nsf/pages/Business+Interruption+Coverage+Calculator?opendocument).

Either site is fine to download the 6 templates because the templates are the EXACT same.
The templates are password protected but it helps you to see how the BI process works from a spreadsheet perspective. Plus, you can design a spreadsheet for yourself based on these templates workflow, procedures and process.
Or, you can "hack" the password protection or coded cells out of a locally saved duplicated copy! - mhmmm! - no! - better not! These templates may be copyrighted - sticky legal stuff..ya know!

Speaking of  Berkshire Hathaway, check out your local cable TV schedule on MSCBN or  CNN for "Warren Buffet, your next door millionaire".   It'a a hillarious depiction of a down to earth guy from Omaha, with his best buddy Bill Gates....from pretty much my old front yard.   Mr Buffet also owns Gen Re, along with the rest of the best little stores we all like.........Dairy Queen, Coka Cola, Sees Candies, Nebr Furniture Mart, it goes on.

But if you get a chance, catch that 1 hour interview.   It's a gas!
