I'm trying to tweak up my macros and sketch templates.   Does anyone have a fairly trustworthy waste factor for conical turret roofs they could share?

    Thanks,

    Randy

The last turret roof I figured, I used 20%. There are a lot of cuts to be made.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

20% is plenty fair.  But the usual per square price is not, even though you are technically only doing "one" slope.  Height & access can triple the cost easily.

Thanks guys, the 20% waste factor and the 3x difficulty factor gives me a base from which to work.

    Thanks again,

Before anyone chimes in...when I said the price could triple, it was in reference to the labor factor only.  Might just be a scaffold charge & additional labor time.  Depends on the circumstance.   A small cone within reach might not make a difference at all, and the waste may be the scrap from the rest of the roof.  But those up & above's can be a difference-maker when you try to find a roofer.

Randy you must be restless and need to work. This little macro will be used about 5 times in the next 10 years. I can't remember the last one I had;but I think I used the area unit price and doubled it. However,  if I had one today thats how I would send it in.

Ray you read between the lines  well.  I went to work today :-)   I've got 4 weeks of work wiring up all the Automobile display buildings at the Texas State Fair. It pays scale, annuity and my insurance for a few more months.   It lasts until the Texas State Fair starts or until I get called out for a storm.   I've also lined up work at twice that price in the S.F. Bay area for the off season. My son lives out there, and they are expecting a new baby boy soon.

When Dean went straight, it left me feeling like Jonah when Nineveh repented.   I was a powderkeg of emotion, but now I've adjusted my plan and its working.   When the industry needs me; I'll be there. In the meantime, my bank account has stopped bleeding and I am useful to society again.
