I have just relocated to Houston Tx and I'm looking for local daily work if available. I have over 20 years of adjusting experience and for the last several years have worked as an independent all over the country.  I have been fortunate to have stayed busy but would like to stay close to home for awhile.

I am TWIA certified as well as State Farm, Nationwide and Met Life.  Does anyone know of any companies that have local work here in Houston?

    Thanks,

    Bruce

A claims adjuster relocating to Houston is akin to a sand dealer relocating to Miami Beach.

Nevertheless my friend, start with TWIA and then State Farm and on down the list for which you hold certs. Not sure if your experience is with CAT or daily inside/field, independent/staff.

Best way is to stay active on the boards (CADO/FOATA/etc....) CADO has an amazing amount of potential employers in the classifieds and between the 23,000+ member base, something WILL come up!

As I am sure you are aware, in this industry as in most....20% of the personnel pool make 80% of the money. That you have stayed busy throughout your 20 years in the industry shows you to be among the 20%

    Best wishes....

I hear ya!!  Most of the people I've met as an independent are from Texas.  I've stayed busy because I go where they send me.  But mostly inside on a zone assist or on cat. I've never worked in an office environment until I became an IA several years ago.  Always worked in the field as staff for various companies.  But when I signed up for IA work up they kept putting me @ a desk.  I'm told these days they want the experience inside.  Who knows. I simply want to stay close to home for awhile.  If that's even possible.  If nothing develops in the next couple of months I'll probably go back inside an ride a desk.  The money is good.  Just tired of being inside.
