I'm thinking about getting an Ipad and using it to remote access into my computer when I need to use xact or other claim software.  That way, I won't have to take my computer with me in the car everyday.

Have any of you tried this?  If so, does it work?  How is the quality?  Can you use Xactimate effectively by doing this?

I use logmein dot com from home to access my office computer. Once you have it set up you can access your office computer from any other computer. Some of the funcionality is reduced. If I insert doors on a sketch diagram I can't flip them around remotely. If I leave cap locks on at work, I can't change the keybaord back remotely. The photos are harder to look at, but I can load photos onto a USB drive before I drive home or I can also make an XM8 photo sheet and email it to myself so I can see the pictures better. Sometimes I just drive into the office on Saturday because working remotely is a bit slower and a bit frustrating. But overall I like having it. Sometimes I stay in my pajamas and work for a few hours from home before I drive in. It gives me more flexibility on my work. But if you use an I pad the screen might be too small. Can you plug a full size keyboard and monitor into an Ipad? Also do you have an inverter to run off your cigarette lighter? Ask Chuck Deaton he is always fooling around with technology. He is the most tech savvy adjuster I know even though he is a genuine redneck. He is always telling me some fool thing he has connected and I don't even know the name of it.
