I recently replied to a classifieds post that is requesting adjusters for Irene. They replied stating that I was acepted and to be in xxxxxx location by xxxxx time.

The classified does not list a company name, only a gmail account to respond to.

Could this potentially be fraudulent / a big waste of time and money?

What could the motive be if it were a fake advertisment?

Fake who knows, best guess, its a company that is in the "know before you go" group. Any time you leave before the storm hits you are risking time and money. (unless you are one the "a" list people who will get some files no mater what.

    Steve,

If it sounds too good to be true than it usually is. I want you to answer the following question, not to this forum and not to me, but yourself.

As a rookie adjuster, do you feel like you are honestly ready to put the insured's livelihood in your "capable hands?"  Did they even speak to you or go over your resume and ask about your XM8/Integra-claim/DDS/SIMSOL estimating skills? I am a brand new IA firm owner and those are the questions I would ask ANYONE before I deployed them.

If this was an Andrew or a Katrina or most of all if this was a Rita type deployment, I can understand the warm body method of building my rank and file.

Irene is in fact a storm with alot of damage and quite a few claims. I do believe the lion's share of the claims are going to be on the flood side. Rookie adjusters are not allowed nor qualified to handle flood claims and whilst it appears to also have quite a few wind claims, why they are deploying so many rookies baffles me ! I say that because there are PLENTY of industry veterans that haven't worked in awhile. Kudos to you and those rookies who are getting a chance to break into this industry.\

There are some significant things you need to know before you deploy with anyone. Understand that I am aware that rookies have no standing to discuss the minimum number of claims you will be guaranteed nor do you have the leverage to negotiate the % split of the fee bill, but you DO have the right to know the % you will be paid, how you will be paid (closed claims versus PAID) claims and finally WHEN you will be paid

Steve, I DO have a problem that the firm you are being deployed with does NOT have a web address and offers a Gmail address.

Buddy you can do what you want but as an experienced adjuster I feel it is our duty to help the next generation of adjusters, so really investigate ANY firm and consider them GUILTY until PROVEN innocent.
