Being new to this site i am not new to the industry.....here are some tidbits that may help to get a NEW person pointed in the right  direction. Some people will not agree but this is what worked for me.

I have only been in this feild for 10yrs and learn little tricks of the trade all the time.LISTEN and learn about your new choosen profession. The web is great place to do RESEARCH.1) find a traing company or another adjuster that will let you watch and learn. You need to find three or four ADJUSTERS tthat will talk to you about your new profession......RESEARCH.YOU MUST HAVE SOME COMPUTER SKILLS.........GET CERTIFED AND LIC.    THEN YOU NEED TO CALL YOUR LOCAL FIRE DEPT AND EXPLAIN WHAT YOU WOULD TO DO.....RESEARCH......FIRES THESE ARE REAL EVENTS,PRATICE YOUR SKILLS IN  WRITTING A GOOD CLAIM(PROCESS) YOU NEED TO WRITE AT LEAST 15-20 SO YOU GET A FEEL FOR  SOFTWARE.THEN HAVE THEM REVEIWED BY A PROFESSIONAL ADJUSTER,i paid an adjuster to reveiw these for me.Register with everyone that will take your resume. You will get 100 nos before you get one yes.Create contacts that will help you(networking)This is a tough way to make a buck but it is alot of fun and work.if you will work for 3-6 months of real effort you will suceed or have alot of freinds.GOOD LUCK, you have to learn before you can Earn

Most of the daily claims will has a restoration contractor involved, as well as an adjuster. You can learn a lot by watching the house being restored. Just watch and don,t get in the way. Some contractors may ask you to go away if you waste time or slow down work.Fire, water and smoke losses can be the whole house and all the contents and  and be a total loss to insurance and if you can write an estimate on that type loss "you are one".

What exactly do you want new adjusters to become certified in?

Explain what to the Fire Dept.?

I have a good bit of advice to for our newly licensed brethren as well !!  New adjusters should be wary to taking advice from a so called PROFESSIONAL with 10 years of experience when said professional's  post is filled with typos and doesn't bother to utilize spell check.

Awh, now Robbie, you are just being impossible, DWAT217001 said that, "you must have some computer skills" not that you need to be able to spell or even use spell check. Sounds like alcohol talking to me.

The alcohol comment was directed at the original poster.

A little history, as hard as it may be to understand, before your time here there was a contributor, used loosely, posting on this board under several identifiers. One identity would as a question, an other identity would answer it.

Anyway my standard comment was the conversations were alcohol fueled.
