I am releasing this announcement prepared by Colm Keenan who heads up the KMConDemand program (the online training division of Crawford and Co) announcing the release of the Property Technical Certification I program for all claims personnel in the P & C industry. I have participated on the committee and watched this program through stringent development progress and participation across the board by insurance company claim executives. To read the full announcement here is a link on our ClaimSmentor Adjuster Info blog:

    http://dimechimes.wordpress.com/2011/01/11/special-announcement-kmcondemand-announces-release-of-the-property-technical-certification-i-program-for-all-property-claims-adjusters/

Please follow the instructions in the news release for any questions you may have or for registration through KMConDemand.

Thank you so much to Colm and his training department for finally developing one excellent training certification all carriers can use versus independents being required to take multiple exams. In addition- this is done online allowing independent personnel to save thousands of dollars they spend traveling to take the current certifications! The carriers cannot adopt this too soon. Just review the committee participants on the site and you'll be quite impressed!

Some may find it hard to get to the PTC part of the KMC website so here is a direct link to the PTC section, http://www.kmcondemand.com/ptc/portal/

Thank you!  I have been looking for this on KMC and Crawford's website....they hide it really well, inexplicably.

So, is this industry standard now? I haven't seen anything stating this is what all carriers accept. Until then, I don't think I will spend any money on it. Obviously many of us IA's are scratching to make enough money to pay monthly bills.

No this is not the industry standard yet. It is still being worked on but I can tell you Allstate has already gone on record that they will accept this certification.

But I do wanna make a point here, Who are you to down this concept ? You state "Obviously many of us IA's are scratching to make enough money to pay monthly bills." This is precisely why many people including Deb Moroy(ClaimSmentor founder) have been working behind the scenes to try to stop this ridiculous flood of multiple certifications required to be a player in this industry.

This certification is designed to superceed all of these "other" certs and is designed for YOU so you won't have to spend all of this money every year on travel, lodging and course cost. She is busting her hind end to help all IA's including new IA's by standardizing ONE certification that ALL carriers will accept.

You are obviously IGNORANT to the fact that not all people just hang around and $%^& about all of these certs sprouting up everywhere that are now required for us to have, SOME PEOPLE ARE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Instead of clowning this concept , how about "this is a great idea , It will go a long way in helping us financially!"

First of all, I wasn't in any way "downing" the concept. I was merely stating that because there are so many other certifications out there today, most of us don't have the money to be spending on anything until we can be sure it will be something we can use down the road. I am glad that Deb, Crawford/KMC, etc, are trying to do the right thing for us. Yes, it is a great idea if it comes to fruition. That is why I was asking about it being standardized. This forum is a place for us to ask questions and post opinions as we wish.

Second, I don't believe I am ignorant. I am aware that there are many people on this forum that do nothing but complain. I am not one of those people. I try to keep a positive attitude about my job. You know as well as I do that it is hard when there are so many different certs out there that we are required to obtain while sitting and waiting for work.

Last, you seem to get your panties in a wad too quickly on this forum. Please take a chill pill.

I am trying to to make as many post and throw bombs. I think this is the best thing I have seen in 20 years. I don,t think ANY insurance company gives a twitt about about "certifications" from a non sponsered for profit school.I know a lot of carriers that REQUIRE the vendor to screen, invite and weed out the ones who don,t fit the bill, but "they do not call this "you are certified". It means we will give you a shot as one of our SCREENED vendors invested "their" money in you, I was told by State Farm I was not certified; but I worked several years for them as an un-certified older adjuster.

    You know what ??????

You my friend are absolutely right !!! However I do not wear panties, but you are correct we are all allowed to state our opines.

I only jumped not just down your throat but a few because people seem to just view this as another way to separate adjusters new and old with their money. I have told many about this and even my own  co workers are kinda poo pooing all over this.

I knew Deb was working on this for a bit but didn't really think something like this could happen, but it's here and some heavy hitters are coming on board.

If carriers continue to come on board, this is a huge step in the right direction. Anything that can help our IA's like this is a good thing.

I have swallowed my chill pill my friend :-)

Gosh- I hadn't followed up to read on this topic and didn't know it had headed south. Back on point, I highly recommend anyone curious about this new designation first go direct to the KMConDemand website www.kmcondemand.com/ptc and then go direct to the Advisory Board link to view the members such as State Farm, Nationwide, and Allstate as well as many others. I am also attaching a link to the February 2011 interview of Colm Keenan VP of KMConDemand in this month's issue of Claims Magazine. You will see many endorsements for the program in this article including comments by Crawford and other adjusting firms that they intend to require this of all of their adjusters. I think it is a fantastic thing as the more carriers adopt requiring it, the less you will have to travel to take individual carrier certification tests and the more deployable you will be as adjusting firms value the fact you've been tested for competency as they speak of in this article. Here it is:

I noticed on the linked article that it was sponsored by the AICPCU.  Does this mean the PTC will be available through the AICPCU or was it simply an ad embedded in the article?

It is not sponsored by AICPCU-it must have just been an embedded ad in the article. In fact, AICPCU org was asking about the designation in their Linkedin group earlier this week. KMConDemand is the online training arm of Crawford and Company but they host online classes for all adjusters regardless of affiliation with Crawford. As the article pointed out- many other adjusting firms and carriers are recommending the designation and participating on the Advisory Committee.
