Since in my opinion, I think the year may be over, I went to digging up some daily work. Started getting some pretty good assignments. Got a response from a vendor to an inquiry about handling some claims. This is a good lesson for those who will work anyone just for the experience. This vendor offered $50 a file, not good but not a deal breaker as long as I have others at a good rate. I recd the contract, the vendor does not pay if they do not get payed by the carrier.  The adjuster is out the time, wear and tear on a veh, the vendor basically has no exposure and they solicited the client that did not pay. My contact with the vendor explained, I am to write a very basic estimate, not including some basic items needed for quality repair. In other words low balling an estimate. The other items would be handled as supplement if the vehicles acually went to the shop.

Even if this vendor raised the rate, I would have a hard time accepting claims from this vendor. My name is on these estimates, we must all remember when examiners, shops, contractors, possibly attorneys, review the estimate, they will see our name. And that noise you hear, will be the bus the vendor will throw you under to sve there own rear end. Read your contract. Know what your getting into.

Yea lots of vendors with lots of demands. I booted up exactimate one time about a year ago to get Met Life Losses. I got three in one month which did not even pay for the exactimate lease. Each file took me about 4 hours including drive time(free) and I could have made more as a Wal Mart greeter as I was paying my auto expense. Good old daily claims from national vendors , who find staving cat. adjusters trying to keep their nose above water.

If the vendor would make all cat. adjusters temp employee.s and allow you to draw unemployment for most of the year, it would be more attractive, but the cat. adjuster pool has too many now. I am not talking about the 10%, just talking for the 90%

if you work for your own corporation you can submit for unemployment. I did  and i got $228 a week until my account ran dry. By the way the last money Obama set up for unemployment is not available to anyone yet.
