There are a lot of cooks in this kitchen! Many of us have had to get creative on the road. Before we got our RV, I was cooking on hot plates and ironing boards in hotels. Post your favorite meals and recipe ideas here for others to try and enjoy. Also, any memorable places you have eaten in your travels.

The truck stop south of Golden Meadows, LA. The Corner Cafe there by the Federal Court in NOLA. Emeril's in the Warehouse District, Mortons in Chicago, IL, Das Essen Haus in Indiana. County Line in San Antone. Chimes in Baton Rouge. Middendorfs in Manchac, LA

The Blanco Cafe #1 in San Antonio. The deli counter fried chicken at most any Albertsons, 4pc for $2.99, best I've ever had. Joe Tesh Place in South Omaha for fried carp. The Golden Chicken in Tulsa ain't bad either. K-Bob's Steakhouse in Deming, New Mexico has a pretty good chicken fried steak after 13 hours of driving across IH10.

Jhonsons Corner, Loveland Co, truck stop food voted top 100 in USA. Main Street Cafe, Arlington Tx, good all round cooking. I don't think you can beat Cracker Barrel for breakfast, quality of food and price.

First time I ate at Johnsons they stuck a roast in my beef soup. Decent food but not much for spice. Do I ever miss Cracker Barrel and even the Affle House. Also Cheddars and the County Line is where I was introduced to Texas Bar-B0-Que. Thank heavens I have a large supply of Creole spice, Blackening and still have some Slap Your Mama sea food boil.

I like to mix it up for the week. 1. Chicken from Whataburger 2. Ribs from Kroger Deli. 3. Burger from Burger King or other Charbroil place. 4. Pizza from Papa John's - 3 Meat 5. Stir Fry from Frozen food section - Add Shrimp 6. Pasta from Olive Garden 7. Breakfast food from IHOP - Good for any meal time. Eat and repeat as many times as needed.

Well,
Last nite we had fresh sweet corn from the garden, Deer didn't get it cause we went & picked it all. The ears are small but tender as a babies behind and super sweet!!! Added them to some 2" thick pork chops barbecued w/ garlic powder ,Salt & a little pepper on them. Then we added sliced fresh picked tomatoes marinated in my wife's secret sauce. Oh I may not be able to eat at least till supper tonite. If somebody doesn't hire me soon I may have to go buy some dockers in the next larger size. Yaaa then we topped it off w/ Vanilla Ice Cream smothered in Huckleberries picked this year in the western Montana Mountains.
that my friends will make you sleep like a baby in a new comforter.
I gotta get back to work or My wife is going to have to icense me as a wide Load!!!
I need to lean down and go on an all walleye diet!!!!LOOL

I hear ya, on the getting back to work, or moving up a size! Seems like all we want to do is eat! We try to keep it lite with lots of shrimp and chicken. Has a big shrimp boil last weekend. Cooked outside with corn on the cob, new potatos, an onion. It was Yum. Tonight I'm making chili, I am not the best chili maker, but I try.Wish I had some of that deer you guys talk about. I love deer chili! The hubby doesn't hunt anymore and I haven't had any venison in years.

I just left NOLA, I was down there for a deal in Chalmette, no time to cook so most of my meals while there came from Rouses, not too bad.

Anyone know a good place for Thanksgiving dinner in Chicago. I have looked and all that is being advertised are the fru fru hotels, with the $50 per person prices for fancy food. I want real food and casual dining. Someone said Cracker Barrel but they won't hold a reservation.

Just out of curiosity, what do most of you call the meal you eat around noon? Dinner or lunch? How about the evening meal, is it dinner or supper? In the Southern tradition dinner was the noon day meal and supper was the evening.

Noon or there abouts is Lunch. Evening meal is Supper. All other meals are called subsistence.
