    I am newly licensed in Texas.  After reading many posts in these forums, I realize just how much more training along with practice will be needed if I want to have any chance of success.  Have read many good things about Vale Tech's three week property adjusting course and would appreciate any additional feed back on them.  I have no misconceptions that this alone will land me a position, but think that it will be a good place to start the formal part of my training. Thanks to all who have contributed to these forums. Great info here on getting started.

    Vale tech has a couple of different avenues
     
    but is simply the best  for those serious about doing things the right way and will give you a solid foundation on which to build a career

    Whilst the above mentioned schools are light years ahead of the 3 day turn and burn revenue streams for the State
     
    you MUST understand the amount of knowledge required to become licensed and even the amount of knowledge required to succeed at Vale and the like is but a drop in the bucket on what's needed to successfully navigate the Adjusting industry
     
    What counts the most is not where you get licensed but what you do after you are cut loose.
     
    DON"T get caught up in the BS certification mill
     
    study policy religously, HO and DP , become STRONG in whatever adjusting software is required which in most cases will be Xactimate, basic, intermediate and advanced classes, take em' all
     
    Listen to those who have been before you, do what you have to do to get some field experience
     
    What works for some does not work for all, so listen to anyone willing to talk and take parts of that and make it work for you.
     
    Estimate your own home , your neighbors, learn how to scope a roof in this order of importance, Safely , Accurately , Efficiently
     
    Whilst only a few measurements are needed for a roof scope on Xactimate and now with sat tech being perfected to a viable alternative to measuring a roof, YOU MUST LEARN HOW TO MEASURE A ROOF WITH A PEN, PAPER, A TAPE MEASURER AND A CALCULATOR.
     
    If you can do all of this, you will put yourself in the top 20 % of new adjusters and when you get that oh so exciting first deployment, treat that for what it really is,
                       A TRY OUT
     
    Remember that you never get a second chance at a first impression and that goes X10 for the adjusting industry

    I thought that too, but, no real matter, people that succeed have an effective bullsh**t filter. A few are fooled, but the successes depend on that voice in their head that starts screaming, DANGER, DANGER, DANGER. I read most of Robbie's posts and generally speaking he is on point with his comments. I'm just sayin".

    You are indeed correct in I do in fact run banner ads and text ads on my boards ( I think we both do), I don't think alot of folks realize ( I know you are aware) the costs of running a site, I didn't and the revenue from the ads keeps the site viable.
     
     
    Although I run ads for licensing, Rope & harness courses and Citizen's certification, I openly tell my new members that getting an adjuster's license does not make them an adjuster and 
     
    EVERY SINGLE CERTIFICATION THAT YOU HAVE IS ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS IF YOU CANNOT TAKE AN XACTIMATE (IN MOST CASES)ESTIMATE FROM START TO FINISH MULTIPLE TIMES A NIGHT AND THAT OVER 65% OF OUR NEWLY LICENSED BROTHERS AND SISTERS FAIL DURING THEIR FIRST "EVENT" DUE TO A LACK OF A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR ADJUSTING SOFTWARE AND NEGATIVE CASH FLOW.
     
    I tell them that whilst these certs have their place, they are best served to master their adjusting software and to study policy , policy,policy and more policy and get some field experience (ride alongs , mentor etc.... ) before they start collecting certs.
     
    The one thing I will not advertise is in regards to adjusting schools is companies like US STAFFING and AMCAT that offer "ROSTER PLACEMENT" if the adjuster takes their courses through them.
     
    It is my opine that is akin to dangling the proverbial carrot in front of the horse
     
    It is my opine that for any newly licensed individual to get their shot in our industry, it is going to take a large event or back to back events for them to get deployed and in that case , anybody will get a shot regardless of who's roster they happen to be on
     
    So in my opine, a new person should not go to a school based upon a promise of roster placement upon completion of their course but based upon merit and what works best for them geographically and financially
