Just read a post by Blackmon & Mooring in Houston about their state of the art cleaning to the customers satisfaction. I will not dispute their claim; however I have NEVER had ANY personal property cleaned. NFIP and all the WYO,s I have worked flood losses with have never questioned total out of all contents under the water mark, and SELL the salvage back to the insured, with all serial numbers in the file.

+1 on that...unless you want to open a can of worms. Water damage and saturated are not the same thing.

During Hurricane Ike there was one staff file examiner that expected the adjuster to allow for cleaning only of the personal property. She even requested that a box of nails be cleaned instead of replaced. Whenever she took a weekend off (remember, she was a staff person), her crew would push their files through the replacement supervisor. Made for some interesting statistics on closings.

We all know water damage is not defined in a homeowners or a flood policy. It should be defined in a public advertizement also. Many times a polcy holder will use the words "my house was flooded" and this is three differant animals to an adjuster unless he knows the C & O of the "flood".

Speaking of floods sounds like Boston and Fargo will have some work this week.
