I am a new adjuster. I am currently waiting until April to get my State Farm certification and to start working on a rope and harness team with a major insurance adjusting company. I am extemely eager to get started adjusting. I am currently looking for an opportunity to train/ride along with an adjuster. I am strictly looking for a way to increase my personal development. I was wondering if any adjusters who may see this topic have ever been approached by a new adjuster for some kind of training? How do experienced adjusters react to this type of request? what advice would you give me as I approach experienced adjusters for mentorship?

Jake, it doesn't look like anyone is too interested in your offer. What state are you in?

As a new adjuster with zero experience , I would concentrate more on your Xactimate proficiency than I would on taking a rope and harness and State Farm certification.

Certifications don't mean squat without any field experience and any IA firm manager or owner if faced with 2 adjusters and one has every cert he can get and the other has zero certs but field experience, the guy with the certs is gonna sit, take the money you are gonna throw at the harness gig and take an intermediate Xactimate class and then an advanced Xactimate class, you will get more mileage out of Xactimate profiency than being certified in climbing a roof you have no experience scoping.

I'm not trying to bring you down , just see reality
