Well guys i fell off a roof the other day and am very lucky. I have completed my inspection on a simple 6/12 pitch single story and was getting on to my ladder and as soon as i put my second foot on the ladder is slipped out from under me.

I was carelness in setting up ladder on asphalt that was probably newly sealed and still a little slick,( my fault).

Please be careful out there it only takes a few seconds to screw up and i don't care how experienced you are it can happen.

I have 4 tranverse processors broke in my lower back and in alot of pain but can walk.

I am very thankful today that i can still walk and for the homeowner that helped me out with her quick reaction.

Sorry that happened. Most of us have either fallen or gotten on roofs that we shouldn't have got on. I am always scared of the ladder slipping. Luckily it hasn't happened yet.

Tie off or put the ladder in a corner. Obvious advice, I know.

Good idea Bob. I always put the ladder on grass etc. because you never know. When it is hot out I make sure I am well hydrated. You lose fluids faster than you think and can become slightly disoriented.

We are glad it wasn't worse and hope you have a speedy recovery. Your post was a good reminder for all of us. The post with the photos was good too. Tie off, bungy off, just do something to secure that ladder. When it's 2 story be even more careful.
