This is the first time I have visited CADO in 2010. Had some elective surgery in late December and ran into a glitch that kept me down for over a month. All is well now and back at work (Arrrrrrr!). Cat work is slow but Spring is around the corner and dreams of hail and flood (if the NE snow melts fast!!!) are dancing in my head!!!. To all seasoned cat folks - keep the faith and know that work is just a few months away.
I don't have any news to share with you all, good or bad. It is also slow in the software world. Most of the carriers are satisfied at some level with whatever estimating systems they are currently using. Or, they don't want to spend $$$ switching their staff and IA firms over to a new platform. I hear that MSB is hawking a new IQ system. I have not seen it yet but it is causing some of their carriers to send out Requests for Information on other vendors. If any reader has seen it, please chime in and let us know what you think. I also rec'd a couple of emails about X raising their prices to $285 a month or $1650 if you pay up for a year in advance. Any truth to this one???? Don't see many posts from Gale H. recently. Gale, what's up with you?
SIMSOL will be at this year's PRLB conference in San Antonio this April (or is it March). This is the trade show that everyone in the carrier and larger IA markets attends. Last year's was a bust due to the economy and the way they set up the exhibit hall (lots of walking) but we hope this one will be better. We have been exhibiting at the PLRB show for 22 years now and our first one was in San Antonio when I was single and no kids or any other responsibilities. Four kids later, with kids at LSU and one about to start law school, times sure have changed and the gray hairs keep coming (most in my ears!).
Question: I have been doing the software and cat adjusting gigs for THREE DECADES now (first flood 1979 in Alvin, Texas). If I and some of the other SIMSOL flood adjusters put on a 3-day class for residential, heavy commercial and mobile home (MOB's as I like to call them), would anyone come to Orlando in the Spring? The classes would be for FLOOD ADJUSTING and not software (all the major vendors can produce a flood estimate and supporting documentation required by the feds). We have room for about 100 lucky participants but would probably limit it to 50-75 with breakout sessions. If you don't want to post here, my email is john.postava@simsol.com.
